    It's official.

So up your kilt, Andy Gray...

The Beautiful boy from Bulgaria, striker Dimitar Berbatov will stay at Tottenham Hotspur for the next 18 months at least, his agent has said.

"Dimitar (Berbatov) is extremely happy at Tottenham and he intends to become the fans' favourite," Emil Danchev told Bulgarian radio Darik. Darik, I am reliably informed is the largest independent radio station in Bulgaria.

"I can categorically say that Dimitar will be a Spurs player for the next year and a half."

Happy days, let's see to it he is with us for longer still, eh?

I thought he was on a 3 or 4 year deal?

So, the end of next season, then. We're gonna need to be seeing some significant progress as genuine Champion's League challengers next season in order for him to stay, in my opinion. Either that or a couple of trophies.

The good thing about this is you can tell that BBtov is really enjoying putting on a spurs shirt. Hopefully he stays long term, the mans pure class.

18months? He'll be there longer than that. Levy has shown that he is willing to reward outstanding performances with quick improvements to contracts. The likes of Lennon have already benefited from it and Berbatov will receive the same. This man is no Judas Campbell you only have to listen to him talk he is not a merenary and would probably still be at Bayer if we hadn't offered so much to them as he wasn't looking for a move.

I wouldn't be surprised if he became what Henry has become for the Goons as I think the club will mean to much for him to leave.

I would love to agree with you, but unless we win cups and get Champion's league football he will be gone by the end of next season if he continues to perform the way he has been recently.

Dimitar will stay at Spurs and try to win things, he has already come out several times and said how happy he is with the whole set up and the fact we have a young team which is building to achieve success.
All these pundits are only coming out now lavishing praise on him becuase he is started to show his class (which i may add i knew he had from his early Bayer days). I heard Jamie Redknapp on Sky when we played the Spammers saying that Quote " I can see him playing for Chelsea or Liverpool even Barcelona he's that good", that's funny as all of these clubs had the chance to buy him but chose to spend crazy money on Shevchenko, Kuyt etc, but he wanted to come to Spurs , we all know he had the opportunity to play for Man U but again he chose Spurs.
I would be very suprised if Spurs sold him to anyone for any price as it is clear he is about to become the biggest cult hero since klinsmann and Ginola.
So all the Andy Gray's, Jamie Redknapps,Charlie Nicholas's, Richard Keys and anyone else who wants to talk about our Dimitar as not being a future Spurs player, he has a FOUR Year contract which i'm sure will be improved at the end of the season a la Huddlestone, Lennon, King, Keane etc. Dimi is yiddo Dimi is a yiddo la la la la ohh .....

Simple fact is: he left a CL team to come to us, presumably because he thought we would be challenging for CL spot....he probably knew it wouldnt happen immediately, hence his agents "18mths" thing; however, he is CL-class player and will be needing to play regularly there. Lets hope that it can be with us....I, personally, cant see why not: we have shown that our form can take us there if we can do it all season. All we've been lacking is that old thing: consistency.

    Consistency? Spurs? Oxymoron.

Lets get Champions league then!! He has a great rappour with the fans already. and he plays some of the most beautiful football I have seen from a man in a spurs shirt since Hoddle. He is Spurs legend material.

3 Million years ago , I got my o level in maths and so I know that 2+2 doesn't equal 5. Just because clubs don't get into the Champions league does not mean that there is a mass walk out as you're predicting. Nor does it mean that the stars of the side all suddenly have a burning desire to play for Manure, Chelski or Barca. Players move clubs for a wide variety of reasons such as money, a new challenge, falling out with the boss and occasionally because they want to sample CL football.

On the other hand players stay for reasons such as they like the club (Gerrard at Liverpool), they have friends there (Ronaldinho for years at PSG), they feel idiolised (T. Henry), and of course the influence of the Manager is important too. Neither cash nor CL football are the only influences on players even if prats like Andy Gray or J Redknapp woould have you believe it.

No that's right Champions League is not the be all and end all. Many players leave to go to clubs playing in the CL to get into the international squad, not an issue for Berbatov. Don't really know why I read/ commented on this non-story other than I don't want to revise on a saturday morning.

I dont like the sound of that statement! He will be here for the next 18 months dont mean to be negative but he only signed a 3 year deal the first year is almost up so that means he can go for nothing cos we wont get fcuk all for a player with 6 months on his contract.

I dont want him to leave from day one i said he would be the bollax when people i know was not sure about him, i rate him highly, what i would do is get him in the office new deal more money and if he dont want to then get rid.

Please dont jump on me and start sayin things like how can u say that and talk about getting rid im looking at the bigger picture of course i want him to stay he could be our shearer but im thing from a financial aspect cant let him go for nothing if he stays for 18 months then say im off that's it
