Henry needs a midfield genius to make those killer through balls for him to run onto and quick one-twos. Unless we can get such a midfielder, he won't get a smell of goal with us.

I think he may very well end up as Beckham's opponent somewhere over the main.

It may be a case of the Spanish style of football not suiting him as in Xavi, Iniesta and Deco he defo has players that have a killer through ball. He has definately lost his pace and without that he really hasn't got much, whereas Berba relies on his footballing brain and silky ability.

to suggest Henry was/is only about pace is terrible. he has/had pace that he used well but there are and were plenty of quicker players who were and are much worse. Henry nearly got as many assists as he did goals per season so the fella can obviously pick a pass no trouble. Free kicks in top corners (lots of them), 30 yarders (lots of them) ,volley's, back heals.. there's a never ending list of brilliant things he did that had very little to do with pace. fool.

Far more intelligent reasons to explain his decline include:
  • change of tactics
  • surroundings
  • motivation
  • trust
  • family life
  • and above all else Arsene Wenger.

Well a lot of experts in Spanish football agree with me, the fact is he is still basically injured and should never have passed his medical. Where are the back heels free kicks at Barca? Defenders have worked him out over there and he now has not got the pace to get past them. Owen has lost pace but he is still scoring. Henry has had plenty of chances at Barca which you will do with Messi et all putting the ball on a plate and he misses chance after chance.

Henry is a shadow of the player that terrorised premiership defences a year or so ago. He should never have passed a medical at Barca and has been crap every since he has played for them. Be amusing if he goes to the barcodes

To be fair Barca are playing him out of position. Even saying that though i still would nt want him at Tottenham.

Thats not true. He has been given more than enough chances at the top of the three attackers and still failed to impress-he was not good enough at holding the ball up and continued to drift away from the middle and has therefore been moved. His problem is that his touch is not condusive to the quick passing that Barca play, and therefore when he gets the ball, the action invariably slows down to a walking pace and unlike in his days at Arsenal, he doesnt posess the acceleration to speed up the attacks any more. That is one of the main reasons that Barca havent been scoring as freely as they used to. He has been absolutely awful in 2008 and, as a barca follower, i would be delighted to see him leave the nou camp, but, as a spurs fan, i dont want his destination to be WHL.

He has been used wide and not down the middle

Only because when he has played down the middle (the back end of 2007 and since Messi got injured) he has done fuck all and Bojan has looked more threatening. I was there a few weeks ago for their only win in ages and he and Bojan changed positions all the time-Henry did nothing in either position. He has had ample opportunities in the middle and failed every time.

I fucking hate those corrupt set of ****s.

They also play really dire football.

Look at their squad. I'm not surprised the footy is dire. But with luck they will beat Milan this saturday

Berba vs Henry???? Is this a joke? Berba is not in the same bracket as henry in terms of assists goals and winning medals in his career.

In terms of their performances over the past two seasons, I'd take Berba every time.

Henry spent a lot of his last goon season injured. And as other posters who watch Spanish football have said, Henry has been dire all season for Barca. Rijkaard has consistently picked Bojan ahead of him, on merit.

As for Henry playing out wide, Barca's system involves three strikers rotating positions regularly. So Eto'o often plays in one of the wide positions, but it hasn't stopped him being devastating.

Berba also offers far more to the team than Henry. He can hold the ball up and link play very creatively.

So, it's no contest. Dimitar Berbatov EVERY TIME!

why did you submit this response without including my post as a quote? ....becasue seeing this bile next to mine would make you look even more foolish.

I never said there were back heals etc from him in spain. I said there are better reasons why they are absent from his game, other than loss of pace.

he hasn't missed chance after chance at all!!?! his been off the pace so much so oftern he's not been in the position to miss chances, but he's not missed them.

And no. The spanish commentators have actually picked up on more of the things i mentioned than his pace... in fact not one commentator has ever said Henry was all about pace. The two most common arguements put forward for his loss of form are fittness and the stuff with his daughter.
So don't make stuff up becasue there's always someone out there that knows, more, watches more, listens more and can write it down better.

i hate blinkered fans.

i wouldnt want him at Spurs at the moment, but to say that all he ever had was pace is an absurdity that does you no credit at all.
