Actually it's about the worst World Cup ever. Corruption, allegations of match fixing, high level ticket scalping, biting, FIFA, Qatar ... All against a backdrop of political unrest dissatisfaction in Brazil.

Yeah. Worst in my memory

Not just me thinking that way then...
I have been totally underwhelmed by it all, and at every corner someone is selling a headline about corruption and illegalities etc etc...
England being shit has not helped...but then the other "Good" teams that mad early exits have made this about the worst WC that i can recall.

The headlines/memories.
2014 World Cup: Where Germany thrashed the hosts Brazil 7-1.

That has been part of every world cup that I can remember. The difference is the media reach now is huge in comparison

Ok, it might be perception due to media reach, but I honestly don't remember FIFA particularly being quite so exposed and shamed ever. I don't see how they continue on their path. Russia next. Qatar after that. Slave labour building stadia, workers dying like flies, Russia being all racist, beligerant and imperialistic.

Time is ripe for a split in the game and for a rival breakaway body i would say

I think that alot of the hoopla about this WC being "the best ever" has a lot to do with the mediocrity of the last couple of WCs, particulary in the Group Stages where there was very little adventure from lots of teams.

Despite all of the FIFA/Brazil 'real world' events and obvious bias from the refs until the semis, I think this has been a fantastic WC if you just look at the football and the football-related drama.

Fantastic group stages but after that it was all a bit meh. I don't think any of the big teams performed that well. Even Germany who won it and stuffed Brazil struggled versus Algeria.

For me the exciting part was the likes chile, Costa Rica and Colombia.

Ronaldo did f all and Messi was disappointing as well.

I thought it was a great World Cup. Pretty much every match was packed with drama whether it be underdogs giving the big boys the run around, late goals, penalties, great goalkeeping, great goals and some unbelievable results (Holland v Spain, Germany v Portugal and Brazil v Germany to name a few).

I enjoyed it, but you never get the same excitement as when your team is in there and doing well. The group games were very good, but the longer the tournament has gone on the tighter the games have become (with the odd obvious exception) but you'd expect that anyway.

Personally I'd like to have a world cup without penalties, but I'm not sure what the answer to that one is. Golden goal and silver goal didn't really work very well as sides got even more defensive once they came into play.
