Betting against us

I see a lot of people are putting bets against us to try to soften the blow and this is often in the form of an accumulator.

Thought this would be a good place to discuss the biggest accumulator that you can put down where losing would be very good for us.

I can get odd of 22-1 for Chelsea to beat Fulham and Liverpool, Arsenal to beat Fulham and Man City to beat us. What do you think? Those are kind of expected results and it would be pretty good for us if only one of those results were different.

It's a good way of hedging disappointment. Essentially the same as using a derivative contract to mitigate loss in the financial world.

I put a fiver on Arsenal to beat Norwich at 4/1 when they were 1-0 down last week. It offered very little consolation to be honest with you so I might have to increase the stake for next time.

I did this for last years Champions League final.

I'm ashamed to say it kind of did soften the blow.

I've made a few bob in the past betting against us. OK, 3 points are nice, but making a bit of dough softens the blow a little.

The most I've made out of Spurs losing is £165 (When we were 2-1 up against arsenal at their place last year, i sensed we were going to get spanked so put a fiver on us losing 5-2 at 33's)

I've also made a few bob this year on Bale 1st goal and us winning. Not at great odds but it all adds up. I sometimes put the odd couple of quid against us when we're playing a bottom half team as well, as we all know we struggle against those teams.

I do a worse case scenario acca with us and our rivals.

in the last few weeks I have lost quite a bit on us being the last leg of an accumulator, and no one watching my celebrations when we won/drew would even know I had bet against us.

I don't even think about it till after the game (or we're 2-3 down)

I always end up spunking money that I have won on us losing though, as though my sub conscious thinks it's tainted money...

with my terrible betting record, i am now doing a Chav/ arse double every week for the rest of this season. If everton win this weekend and we dont (i think we'll get the 3 points) i may need to add them to the bet as well.
Can't say i've ever bet against us tho - just cannot bring myself to do that.... yet

With the form Nasri's been on recently, and the fact he's a ex-gooner, I've been thinking to back him to score anytime on Sunday but it's only 7/2. Think I'lll take the risk of being disappointed about that with those odds.

I'd get on Dzeko to score at anytime, he always does against us, i have a feeling he'll play some part Sunday if fit.

I made a few hundred quid earlier in the season on betting against us after we went 1-0 up against top opposition. Won money against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and £160 on a £10 bet against Everton.

Lost £20 against Utd at Old Trafford though. Put a tenner on United when we went 1-0 and another tenner when we went 2-0 up. Such is the scarring of being a Spurs fan.

When we get to this stage of the season, I always stick money on our rivals to win. Normally prefer to do a double or treble, but today only one of our rivals are playing.

Doubles/trebles don't have to be on the same day...;)

Oh yeah, I know. But an accumulator type bet spread over multiple days has proven conclusively that the bet will have lost on the first day. I have exactly the same luck with including early kick offs in bets.

So I now only put bets on games that kick off at the same time, so I only taste bitter disappointment after every game has finished.

I never put money on Arsenal to win or lose. I wouldn't want even the smallest part of me to want them to win. I was considering putting a few quid on Chelsea tomorrow, though, just because you know when we actually want Liverpool to turn up they'll be utter dogshit and roll over for the chavs.

today would be one of those days when i would consider backing against spurs, if i was back gambling. but now all i want is 3pts in any sort of form.

i bet on arsenal, but have never ever wanted them to win even an ounce. i celebrate losing my dough if the scum lose.

Agree, in fact I was on to win £120 today if we lost (the last leg in an acca) but when we went 0-1 down I put £10 on us @ 17/2
so :woot:

When Bale went down injured against Basle i just happened to be browsing on betfair and i noticed the odds on us to finish in the top 4 drifted massively so with a little bit of quick looking round other sites i dutched my bets so i stand to win £12 profit if we finish in the top 4 or £110 if we dont. Im hoping to be £12 richer come the end of the season!
