Bitterness for Sherwood

This'll go well...

Although there is one thing that people don't seem to touch on: Sherwood's act for the media. Obviously it was going to upset those who were already dead set against him, but that kind of blunt, slightly controversial persona is something that can appeal to a lot of people - and may make him popular in the press.

He'd clearly been studying Mourinho and Redknapp and maybe he didn't quite pull it off but I can't begrudge it.

I rather liked having a manager who did not communicate in bland platitudes or made-up managment speak. I liked most of what he had to say, and felt a lot of it needed saying.

Sadly the lack of support from on high heaped too much pressure on him and by the end he was losing it.

Tim is not without personal flaws (to say the least), but he was doing a decent job, and with a pre-season to get across his ideas and address the weaknesses he had identiied in the squad, I am sure he would have done better; he would at least be doing better than we are now (not a pop at Poch - any change of management was going to set us back, and I said so at the time).

My main reason for supporting Tim though was that I have always been convinced that the only way Spurs can compete at the highest level is through an effective youth policy. Youth football is Tim's passion and he could have been relied on to faciliate that transition from the development squad through to the first team.

However, I doubt he would ever have won round a substantial portion of our fanbase; after every press conference, let alone every defeat, the knives would have been out for him just as they were for Redknapp, so perhaps it is best as that he is gone. We all go back to being one big happy family (some hope).

But I cannot say Tim's departure, or the cicrunstances surrounding it, has left me filled with hope for the future.

So you're saying him running his mouth off was Levy's fault?
He has a tendency to run off at the mouth when he is on the defensive, Levy left him in a position where he was permanently on the defensive. The press conferences were always about Tim's future, and the journos learnt how to press his buttons.

I didnt like him because he's a snake, back stabber, tactically inept and had us playing like complete shit. The results were because of moments of brilliance from eriksen and a motivated ade(aka one who is 1000% different from the unmotivated useless lump on a log we had in AVB's first year and we have now). The fact that he's a **** just adds to my reasons for wanting him out. Any questions? Thought so. He's gone and still being a bitter ****. Let's drop this subject now.

I didn't like Sherwood at first but he won me round .

If at the end of the season he had been rewarded with a proper long term contract I think he would have upgraded the coaching staff which he couldn't very well do during the season .

If Levy , or as is looking more likely Louis really want a Mourinho type Latin to bring success then they need to bring in the real deal and provide them real money to work with .

I'm sick of them trying to turn us into Mourhino/Chelsea Lite .

As a stand in I think he did exceptionally well. In many ways we should of given him a chance. I liked the fact he had balls and called it as it was. Sure he probably upset levy but a lot of what he called was truth.

However, let's just move on, what's done is done and however many people want Harry or Tim or even Andre... It's not going to happen.

Personally I could not give a shit about Sherwood and what he was good/bad at. However the fact that he has talked himself out of at least a couple of jobs and is still not working may give some a idea.

What was the DOH rating for "stemark44" what part of my post was wrong?

...or Glen or Big MJ. It's amazing how people get rose tinted specs after a period of time.

What I loved most about Tim was how honest he was. Even if a situation deserved to be handled discreetly or delicately, and perhaps even more sensitively I loved that Tim didn't hold back in spelling things out loud and clear.

I also really admired his modesty and his refusal to point out things that were crediting himself. There was an air of humility surrounding him. A truly humble individual.

Above all Tim was a gentleman and carried this great Club with absolute distinction.

Always admired, never forgotten.

At least we looked like we could score goals under Sherwood. The same can't be said of Redknapp, AVB, or Poch (yet).

i liked him for the first 2-3 months, seemed flexible in his approach to each game, introduced new players, was honest/straight with the media ... by the end of the season though he'd lost the plot playing 442 with a central midfield of chadli/siggy and paulinho and was airing needless stuff to the media - "sandro's not good enough" "our squad's much of a muchness" "jury's out on lamela", maybe they're all true but none should've been said publicly and it made the club look like a circus at times.
