Bitterness for Sherwood

This was the reason I was happy for him to be given a chance but then it became clear pretty quickly that his ideas about the game bore very little resemblance to the games I've seen our youth teams play, which is only a handfull admittedly. That coupled with his 'I'm the daddy now' attitude soon put me off him

The youth team play pretty much in the way our first team have attempted to play under Poch. You see the problem? My take on it was that Sherwood decided (rightly) that we did not have the players to make that work in the Premiership and he pragmatically adapted his approach to get the best out of Adebayor and Eriksen, whom he saw as our potential match winners. It made us a bit open, but it achieved the objective of getting players into the box and providing them with service. His problem was that he did not have anyone in CM who could supply the forwards (his biggest mistake in my view being that he initially overlooked Capoue).

If anything performances deteriorated under Sherwood the more he attempted to be true to his footballing principles.

I think he's making more of a shot at the club and the buying policy, rather than individual players. He thinks there are better players from the youth team who cost nothing than filling the squad with players who cost god knows how many million pounds.

How can you manage a player day in day out for a while and still not be able to say 'Soldado'??

You're reading between the lines. Take him on what he is saying not what you think he might be inferring.

He should see Lamelas 400+ page thread for evidence there's many willing to tear him down like we do for the English players

Alright he's definitely said words to those effect at one point. He was also bang on with the bit about the fans... Look on here for the last year or so slating Kane etc having a place in the squad and instead wanting another £20m striker.

Okay, but you've got no answer to my Lamela comment so just pick up on the Townsend one instead. Smooth

Lamela is also the second most (on average) dispossessed player in the league and has an a very low average key passes per game. Not always his fault as the movement ahead of him isnt always that great but still - saying 6 assists paints about as accurate a picture as saying he has done nothing.

He need to improve a lot - as do many of our players. He has greater potential than most of our other players so we can be more patient but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be criticized.

Sherwood is the pundit on our game tonight and was just saying how Spurs fans prefer foreign players to home grown players but Liverpool fans prefer home grown ones to foreigners.

People say it's because he speaks the truth. But he is only talking the truth where a minority of fuckwits are concerned. The vast majority of us all preferred Hoddle to Freund, King to Kaboul etc. But Modric to Mason. Just Like Liverpool fans I'm sure preferred Gerrard to Molby but also prefer Suarez to Shelvey.

The truth is most of us aren't shallow enough to choose our player preferences based on reverse xenophobia. But prefer footballing ability - or at least our own perception of that.

It's this crafty, half bullshit that the media just fucking love but alienates anyone with a brain.

I'm not saying that we should ignore his faults, of which he has a few which need improving sharpish, but to claim all he's done so far this year is a rabona is just nonsense. So far this season more goals have come as a result of his play than anyone else. That's a fact. Yes, we should also note that he's lost the ball a lot, been at fault for a handful of goals and hasn't always been great, but it's early days for him and it's ridiculous to say he's only been responsible for one positive thing this year.

You will be fine then.

Top assists for us this year. What've we seen from boy wonder Townsend? One wonder goal for England. Level playing field though of course

We have scored less fucking goals than Sunderland FFS!
