Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams says he has no intention of allowing winger Morten Gamst Pedersen to leave the club, with Tottenham strongly linked.

Spurs are still desperate to land a quality left winger, and with no hope of signing Stewart Downing from Middlesbrough, reports had claimed they would turn to Pedersen.

However, Williams told the Blackburn Citizen the Norwegian international is going nowhere: "Morten was linked with them (Spurs) back in the summer, but there are absolutely no plans to sell him."

Whilst I have no idea whether or not the "sources close to his agent" rumours are nonsense, it is worth mentioning that "absolutely no plans to sell him" does not address the point, which is that he is rumoured to want to leave. If he wants to leave, they will surely sell him, plans or no plans

The trouble is that we are trying to read the truth through a fog of speculation. And in this case it's a pea-souper. I can't imagine Blackburn letting 'Gamst' go, and if they are strong enough about this then I can't see him making it difficult for them. No doubt his agent, like too many of his kind, is thinking of his own pay day, but even he will know not to rock the boat too much. I guess all of this is preparing for the summer if, indeed, there is any truth at all about a restless Pedersen.
  3. That Guy
    Is he even that good?

He's no Ginola, but who is........ I'd prefer him than Tainio/Ziegler on the left side though. He scores some cracking goals and has a good cross, I've not seen him often over 90 minutes though

His only real deficiency is a lack of pace but other attributes such as his crossing, shooting and trickery in and around the box more than make up for this. Would be a classy signing!

he cracked in 6 corners when he was a nipper in a game once

    No Gamst

First of all; he is a wannabe decent footballer, nothing like the admirable Solskjaer for instance. We don't need that kinds of players, we need players with commitment and the right attitude. He will not make the cut, I'd rather see Routledge back instead. Gamst thinks he's better than he actually is. We need a winger, but not him. I work for the Norwegian FA, and he clearly has an attitude problem.

I disagree here; I think he's the best left winger there is in the premiership, way above downing. He's also very handsome.

Is he any better than Malbranque or Routledge/ I agree he's probably a bit better than Downing, but that's not saying a lot for him.

Duff? Robben? Giggs? Ronaldo when he isn't playing on the right?

    Good, but...?

I think Gamst would be a good signing as he's everything Lennon isn't vice versa. I wonder if there's any idea in having to players with pace, but only decent crossing/set pieces/shooting skills? - That's why I think we should go for Gamst. :hump:

I think I prefer Malbranque for now, perhaps to give Ziegler a 6 match run, or get Routledge back for a try out there before signing someone of gamsdt's quality/price.

Pedersen is far from the best left winger in the prem. Giggs, Ronado, Joe Cole, Duff, Robben all outclass by an absoute mile. He is very good though and if it was possible to sign him for relatively cheap i'd be happy.

I don't think we are desperate for a lleft midfielder any longer, now Malbranque is here we have a well balanced side and our results in the last 2 months have improved vastly. Like in any positio the onlly players want now are genuine quality or younger players with huge potential.

To fredrikstad (great name btw, got family in the town):

Gamst seems to have a serious attitude problem when he's on international duty, I agree. Knowing how good him and Riise should be on Norway's left side, they have both been completely hopeless in a majority of their internationals, though IMO they both improved in the qualifiers this autumn.

However, when he plays for Blackburn he seems dedicated to the cause, so to speak. I've seen a few Blackburn games, and although he hasn't been as good as he was last season (then again, who at Blackburn has been?) he still at least does his best.

I'm thinking of comparing him to the likes of Andy Cole. Excellent club player who never did a thing when picked by the national team.

And I think he would balance our midfield perfectly, as somebody else said, he is everything Lennon isn't. However, I don't think we should make a move for him if he's going to cost more than £5-6mill, and I seriously doubt Blackburn wil price him that low. Much better to go for an attacking FB and keep Malbranque on the LM for now.
