good points Lily - for me it was a good game and spurs played a lot of very good football - I doubt if many teams have gone up there this season and played better than us (I'm not talking about results obviously - just the way we played - in a fair and entertaining manner - not fouling/boring our way to a win)

talking of which it's nice to see Bolton on their way out of the Prem - they've not been as bad this season - but boy were they a blot on the prem landscape for many a year

When the reality is so at odds with what's been reported, you have to seriously wonder if there's a press agenda against us, or it's just lazy journalism and they pick up on one negative report, but it certainly surprised me, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to actually watch the whole match myself, as I enjoyed it, and with a bit more ruthless finishing, it should've been a deserved victory.

Agree with you about Gilberto btw.

Anyway here's a nice pic of our 2 frontmen looking anything but ratty with eachother, they're smiley and cool.

The only negative coming from here is that Big fat Sam is going to get a lot of praise
for his particular brand of football (hoof, hoof, hoof)

Lily : I've been racking my brains and can only remember one "Lily" that came from down your/our way. Still working on it. heh heh

TCO: Ha Ha! It's a made up user name.

Did go to school in Dalston though, and lived in Hackney Wick as a very small nipper before we moved to SN. :)

Not only the newspapers were horribly negative in their reporting, but also MOTD2 just now, that muppet Adrian Chiles, described the match as "of mediocre quality" and showed our highlights last as always. I wonder if they actually watched it, as the commentators on the stream were praising most of the quality of Football played, and thought it a good match, and so did I.

I hate the Media.

I also have failed to see any so called spat between Keane & Berbatov that's been written about. Can anyone there please enlighten me?

Apparently Keano gave Berba a bollocking.

That is, I believe, the captain's job.

'Mediocre' means 'middling', not 'pisspoor'. Or should do. I have no idea what Chiles (who is a bit of a tit) takes it to mean, but it seems not to have a been a great game, or rubbish. 'Good' or 'OK' would seem fair.

I thought it was a good game, 2nd half was not a sgood as the first but still a good flowing game. Very end to end at times.

The first half hour was some of the best football we've played for a while, crisp passing and movement and we were unlucky not to score 3.

The media can shove it up their top 4 loving arses!

Yeah, I remember the commentator on a number of occasions saying about how neat our football was, so this Chiles gimp is talking through his :shake:

agreed guy :) it was a good game and we played very good football for quite a bit of it

incidentally am loving sparky on Rovers in the press and his european ambitions

I remember earlier this season when Hughes was talking about Rovers getting into the CL - pure comedy - best laugh since Crystal Palace were the 'team of the 80s'

where does Sparky get the idea that Rovers are anywhere the 'big 4' ?

they won't get CL this year - and I can tell him now don't even bother mentioning it next year either - it ain't gonna happen

the only time Rovers were capable of it were when Walker was bankrolling them - since then the stakes have been raised massively - and no way will Rovers get a Jack Walker x 2 to do the trick for them again

They might make Inter Toto - and maybe 15,000 will turn up for the games if they cut the prices to a £5 a go - they might even then get into UEFA - maybe even get a 20,000 gate for a tenner a ticket - but how long will they stay in the tournament - unlikely to make the last 16 I reckon

dc boy.
if everton can talk about being in champs league this season and probably next-i think others can aswell.
and with more money for blackburn to spend in the summer im sure hughes will talk about it again.we have done well with limited funds just imagine us with funds.

and you say we was only good when jack walker was giving us money-sorry but where was spurs before you spent your millions???-you was just a mid table side.

hi Rovers - fair comments - fact is though Hughesy can talk about CL all he likes - it ain't gonna happen - and if it does feel free to come on here and tell me I'm wrong

there's quite a gap twixt you and Everon I'm afraid - and I'm not just talking this season

as for us and money - bang on - our most successful time was in the 60s when we were the richest/joint richest club in England - on the whole money buys trophies - and I'm afraid you ain't got enough of it these days to break the CL spots - we probably haven't either (I was one of those who said all along we wouldn't get top 4 this season, despite a load of journalisitic nonsense to the contrary) - but we're more likely to do it than you - check the bookie's odds at the start of next season if you think that's just my opinion :)

anything can happen in football dc boy..
and like i say if everton can think they have a chance for top 4 why cant others.in my opinion everton dont have great players(maybe arteta)-but with the likes of neville, hibbert, carsley, and osman-who are hardly classy players-they find
themselves 5th i think for hughes to of aimed for 4th this season was right.
i personally think blackburn need improvement to get 4th, and given funds in the summer i believe we could be a contender like everton are this season.

and yeh you probably are favourites to get 4th next season-but 40 million helps- we will probably have 10million to spend and find ourselves doing well.

fair comments again Rovers :) though I wish it were true that 'anything could happen in football' - I really can't see anyone from outside the 'big 4' winning the league next year

but yes it is possible that Rovers could finish top 4 next season and fair play in a sense to Hughesy for believing in it- unfortunately his comments have wound me up quite a few times over the years - so I tend not to be too charitable to him - not that he'd care :)

Excuse me but Blackburn Rovers were a puffed up club in the mid 90s thanks to Jack Walker's money. The bigger club in that part of the world is Burnley. More fans, more history, more tradition. You know it's true.

It's also interesting how Hughes, the man supposedly to take over at Yanited, and O'Neil at Villa, have got off lightly re the press and their qualifications for Europe taking a nosedive.
