I have just got back from an awesome holiday in Argentina and one of the highlights was going to the play-off to see who would win the league. It had finished with three teams on level points and GD at the top of the league so there was a mini league over a period of five days where they played each other at Racing Club's stadium. San Lorenzo beat Tigre, Boca Juniors then beat San Lorenzo and we went to see the last game Boca v Tigre. Unfortunately Riquelme got booked so was suspended for our match and as they don't have programmes I don't know the names of the players we saw. I have put a photo album on facebook with a detailed account of the occasion - particularly of the amazing crowd and all the rituals. If you would like to see it, please PM me your email address - but I will try and upload a couple here.

In the end Boca lost the match 1 - 0 but won the league. We were packed into the most dynamic, macho and inspirational crowd I have ever been part of. The band played literally non-stop, the crowd sang and jumped and spurred the team on. When they let the soppy goal in the crowd just carried on singing. When the goalie asked to be substituted as a result, the crowd's attitude was, "He's only young."

Has anyone else been to a South American football match and would you agree that there is no atmosphere to compare with it? Wouldn't it be great if we could have a band that really kept our fans singing however badly we're playing or how dull it might get at times?! When we do well WHL has as good an atmosphere as any team in the premiership, but this is, literally, a different league.
