Bordeaux's Chamakh eyes Premier League move

    Marouane Chamakh: Prem move?
Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Spurs have all been linked with a summer move for Chamakh, who has scored 10 goals this season for Bordeaux, who sit two points behind championship leaders Marseille.

''My contract ends in one year and I'd like to leave with a French championship title with Bordeaux,'' the 25-year-old told L'Equipe.

''If I leave it'll be abroad or nothing. Before talking to the interested clubs, I first want to talk with Bordeaux. It's my team and where I was trained so that's normal.

''I am going to give the priority to England. That's the league I appreciate the most.

''Even if I would give everything to play for teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, I don't dream. I am not crazy.

''If I manage to join a team like these ones, it would be a miracle. I am not greedy but I rather aim for a club which sits just below the 'big four'.

''To be clear, a team like Tottenham could interest me but not Sunderland.''

Poor poor Sunderland.... but, seemingly a quote. Chancew we are being used as leverage? High.

I saw him at the African Nations against Ghana, nothing special from what I could see, but I'm up for more footage if anyone has some suggestions. Here's a nice goal:-

We will be getting a million of these rumours over the summer....happy days !?!?!
  5. infamousyiddo
i dont think he is all that tbh

average footballer,i know it didnt happen but Fred from lyon, pisses on this guy. French league 1 is pants anyway, the best players are big money & they are already gone or are like Benzema already on the champions league clubs radar.

PS why didnt we get Yohann Goucouff on loan when we had a french DOR & he was warming the bench at milan...sighs..

Good shout, would love to have signed Gourcuff, the guy is top class in a similar role to what Jenas plays for us.

To Chamakh's credit tho, I've seen a few of his goals this season when watching the highlights on setanta and he looks a very good player, that said though he's similar in style to Bent or Defoe so not really what we need.

I'd expect us to be looking more at someone like Roque Santa Cruz seein as he's admitted he wants out of Blackburn.

The hacks are a bit soft here. A better title for the piece would have been:

Angry Chamakh Blasts Sunderland: Moroccan star says he would 'never' play for Keano on Wearside.
  9. mawspurs
Er in case you hadn't noticed Keano is no longer on Wearside.

This guy would be a great partner for Defoe in that he is tall, strong, quick, and creates. He is very skillfull. A fitting comparison would be Eduardo or Van Persie but with the ability to impose in the air. Problem with this guy though is that he is not prolific at all.

I don't think we should get a striker anyway, but if we do, Gignac for me.
  11. glenda
le gin,ive got nothin but respect for u sir,but as much as i hate to say it,Van Persie is on a different level to the likes of Chamakk,he is potential world class on his day. ps i hate the lil C**t,but u cant compare these 2.
  12. BringBack_leGin
oh i only meant in terms of style, not in terms of ability. i should have been clearer
  13. SouthLondonSpur
Thanks for that Mawspurs, i thought i was going crazy or had time shifted back twelve months.
  14. JimmyG2
If he were to come in how quickly could he be incorporated into the team and how soon would he score 15/20 goals a season like er,um Darren Bent?
  15. Pillbug
Right right right... I keep forgetting this somehow.... new(er) manager is the capitol of Slovenia I think, right?
  16. BringBack_leGin
he's never get that many in the league, perhaps in all competitions. however, defoe, pavlyuchenko, keane, lennon, modric and jenas would all score more with a player like him in the team, and he is far better to watch than, er, um, Darren Bent
  17. JimmyG2
Maybe. but a bird in the hand is worth two in the er,um bush.
Bent is certainly not pretty to watch but I backed him to score 25 goals this season which looks a bit over-optimistic with only 6 games to go and he's not doing too badly.
But I wouldnt take the chance myself on a player that looks good playing outside the Premiership when we have a 20ish goal man in place.
Of course you may be right and he could turn out to be another Berbatov, but its always a riskand changing for the sake of it is not what we need at the moment.

oh i'm not sold on chamakh, i'm just not sold on DB either.

    prefer Pav to both
