I do.

I also realise that most Dortmund attacks were down our left side as they tried to take advantage of a perceived weakness of Vertonghen playing wide. So Aurier largely got a 'free pass'. Dortmund is unlikely to make that mistake again so Aurier will actually have to do some defending.

In consequence, because he's largely fucking useless, I'm not too excited about the possibility of him playing tomorrow.

Mnnn nah...You've just made that up, Dortmund attacked both flanks more or less equally, look at the positional report on whoscored:

https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1...-League-2018-2019-Tottenham-Borussia-Dortmund

So not sure where you're getting this free pass from, in fact Aurier was more involved in the match seeing as the ball was on the right side of the pitch for the majority for both teams.

In consequence if you're looking at the mistakes he's made this season he favours comparably to the other senior right back who hasn't traveled with the squad so...

Assuming that positional report is accurate, it still shows Dortmund attacking more down our left (44%) than our right (36%) - hardly an equal distribution - although my recollection is that it was more lopsided than that. His involvement in our attacking, the other half of your argument, is irrelevant to the point I was making.

My point is that Aurier, moreso than Trippier, is a defensive accident waiting to happen. Clearly we disagree on that.

Nope, Dortmund are the team on the right, have a look at the player positions tab, it's 41% to 40% which is why I said it's more or less an equal split, certainly nowhere near the narrative you're trying to paint about Aurier having a 'free ride'

Your recollection may have been from the first half where Dortmund tried to isolate Sancho against Vertonghen but in the 2nd half (the half in which Serge got an assist no less) when they realised they couldn't get any job they switched to the opposite flank.

What we thinking about Kane tomorrow? Personally i would leave him on the bench.

Nah! We can sub him off in the second minute after he has scored that early goal to piss on Dortmund’s slim hopes of getting through the tie.

Im already shitting it

In all honesty he must be knackered but think if he doesnt play, they will get such a psychological edge - think Arsenal when Toby didnt start

Id rather start him get the goal we need then bring him off half time (but doubt he will come off)

Poch has said that he’d likely start on the bench.

Thanks pal. Lovely option to be able to bring on if it looks like Dortmund are getting through the middle too easily. Or even if we get a goal, look comfortable & bring him on to shut up shop and see the game out.

I'm personally fucking chuffed he's back. So so important to what Poch wants everyone else to do.

Think it’s perfect timing for us really. A good performance and a win will bring the confidence back. Them having to chase sets up nicely for us.

Lets see if we can go the first 15 mins without a catastrophe. Keep it tight whilst looking to pick them off. Whatever happens, I just hope we dont shit ourselves if they score.

Okay, you got me. I naively thought that the colour of the arrows might be related to the colours the teams wear.

However, even though this particular evidence blasts a king-sized hole in my argument, I'm still sticking to my point that Aurier is largely unfit for purpose and I'd prefer almost anybody else to play at right back.

Don't want to shatter any illusions but we'll pretty much play our normal game but we'll want to keep defensive midfield solid, I think Reus is back so give him nothing. Four at the back hopefully tonight.

With them having to commit men forward, 3 central midfielders, Eriksen or Lamela behind Son and Moura is the way to go.... perfect counter attack set up.

I thought I was feeling a tad depressed after going to the NLD and the prior results, but after reading this thread I am in a real dark place now. Come on guys have a bit of faith we're not that bad.

Son will get the first chance, running past their defence. Will he take it? Hoops’ crystal ball(s).
