Two Southampton players have been arrested over allegations they stole from handbags at a Hampshire nightclub.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, 23, and Nathan Dyer, 20, were arrested this morning for questioning.


It follows an incident at Bar Bluu in Southsea when items were stolen from three handbags in a staffroom.
Hampshire police launched an investigation after two men were filmed on CCTV entering an unlocked staff room in the early hours of February 28.

Staff at the venue, which that night hosted R&B star Kano, reported three mobile phones, £145 in cash, student cards and cigarettes stolen from three handbags.
A spokesman for Hampshire police said: "We can confirm that two men, aged 20 and 23, have been arrested in connection with an allegation of burglary."
A Southampton Football Club spokesman said: "It's a matter of police investigation and we cannot comment."

Two Footballers Charged With Burglary

Southampton footballers Nathan Dyer and Bradley Wright-Phillips have been charged with burglary after items were allegedly stolen from a nightclub staffroom.

It follows an incident when Bar Bluu in Southsea hosted R&B star Kano.


Nightclub staff claimed that during the night, three mobile phones, £145 in cash, student cards and cigarettes were taken from three handbags.


Hampshire Police launched an investigation after two men were filmed on CCTV entering an unlocked staff area in the early hours of February 28.


Dyer, 20, and Wright-Phillips, 23, who both live in Briton Street, Southampton, attended Portsmouth Central Police Station today.


They were charged and bailed to appear before the city's magistrates' court on July 8.


Southampton Football Club has declined to comment while the matter was being investigated and the case goes through the courts.


Wright-Phillips is the son of former England star Ian Wright and younger half-brother of Chelsea and England player Shaun Wright-Phillips.
