Fairly early on in the book this quote jumped out at me.....

"Big European clubs have been looking for and interviewing prospective new coaches. One of them rang me, one that wants to change things and win the lot. They got in touch on several occasions, but it isn’t time to change."

I hope Poch stays for a long time, but this sentence made me realise the day will come when the time is right for him to change.

I'm still early on in the book, but it's a good read and interesting to hear what makes him tick.

Great read so far,, approx 80% through it

Who knew how much detail goes on in planning the team on a daily basis and half time team talks etc.. Its unbelievable. Its quite clear from his book that if a player does not have the drive to improve then they don't have a future @ Spurs... hes mentions attitudes a lot..

I know people moan a lot sometimes about selections etc and poor results.. he knows more then any of us whats going on behind the scenes etc,, he knows now its all about that winning mentality we need to get more of. i.e results over the bigger teams. From reading his book, i know how frustrated he wouldve been after the recent utd game

few interesting things i pulled out

him and levy talk a lot....(trips away together as a team)
n'koudou (attitude) and Jansen (training) both needed to do more
he likes kane / wanayama a lot.... (we badly miss wanayama this season)
He bigged up marcus edwards massively and again with him its an attitude thing

I think they should sell mate at the new ground, holly tea can't taste any worse than the tea they used to serve at WHL.

Perhaps so, but I don’t think that quote is indicative of that.

Definately. Perhaps this was PSG? Sounds likely.

It sounds like he bloody loves it doesn't he. The book's a whole lot funnier if you treat 'drinking mate' as a euthanism for snorting cocaine :ROFLMAO:
Well, it does combine the short term hit of coffee with the longer term linger of tea, so it's not far off! (although it's not been blamed for anyone killing themselves after illness - I think you mean euphemism).

I don't normally read biographies, or books by celebrities/sportsmen, but this is something I think I need to make an exception for.
As a youth coach at a local team, and because of the way Spurs are right now, it just sounds like such a great thing to read.

Its not tactics or any of that (I don't even believe the book deals with that much or does it?), but I am a great believer in attitude and positivity, so I shall be adding this to my Christmas list.

I lived in Argy for a few months way back, never had any mate.

No need to feel sorry for me, just read the last word with the right accent.
