Why isn't it?

Our run has come to an end just like Burnley's inevitably will. It's a stupid point to make to try and suggest Burnley will definitely get something against Chelsea.
I think the point is that people are stressing about the strength of our team because of our fixture, but seemingly assuming Chelsea will get 3 points. When in reality, it's much more likely we will make ground on Chelsea this week. Football isn't that simple, but we are in a healthy position.

I'll have to agree to disagree. Maybe it's the pessimist in me but I can just see us having one eye on the weekend and not getting the job done tonight. Not to mention that Chelsea's tails will be up after a massive morale booster at the weekend.

Footballs a funny thing. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

By me, we lose our first game in months, to the best team in the land, and now we're worried about bloody Brighton.

Ugly or emphatically, we will win tonight, and be fully prepped for Saturday. This is what Poches fitness and work ethic is all about. Fans have to understand we aren't the team of 20, 10 or even 5 years ago... We are essentially elite, and games like this evening are our bread and butter.

Get behind them as that half time chappy says.

I'm not making predictions or being negative/positive, I'm just saying, on paper, Burnley is a harder game and I'm sure 99% of neutrals would agree.

If Moura doesn't start
and I don't think he will
then press them to within an inch of their life
and let him perform the coup de grace.
Or if we've got it won
play him for fun anyway

Looks like the fa looking at Alonso foul. That’s him out on thurs and the semi. Good job Davies got booked or he would be with him Now charged with violent conduct

Phillip Larkin (1958)

Oddly enough I met Phillip Larkin on many occasions.
he was the Chief Librarian at Hull University
when I was a student in the early 60's.
I absolutely deny any poetic influence from him though.
Absolutely.

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

Much more rhythmic and regular than mine.

I expect Poch to freshen things up, as he always does when we play twice a week, so I expect 3 or 4 changes, possibly Aurier, Lucas & Wanyama, although he may put Son in from the start.

we need a full strength 11 for the game against Utd. I'm hoping we play Lucas, Toby,Wanyama and maybe even llorente tonight just to give some others a break and get ready for the weekend.

Not bad weather for a trip to the coast.

Strongest team possible please. I suspect Poch will want top 4 secured as early as possible even though we have the semi on saturday so will do so as much as possible.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t follow any team yourself.

would play the strongest team....possible tweaks:
1. Kane maybe on the bench with an eye to his fitness and the weekend
2. Wanyama comes in to CM and Dier at CB....or maybe even Toby?

Kanes isn't tired, hes out of form.
Sitting him on the bench isnt going to help his form.

Last time we lost to City our next game was away to an in-form Burnley side at their ground and I remember being worried that we could get rolled over again. Thankfully we produced a brilliant performance to win 3-0. I'd like to think that we'll have a similar reaction to losing to City last wknd and whilst it won't be easy, I'd expect us to get the job done.

I dont think Brighton will park the bus which will only allow us to play our game more effectively.

Brighton are also 13th currently, 7 points clear of 18th so whilst they still need points to survive, it's not quite as desperate as Stoke when we played them recently, which again I think could play into our hands.

To be taken with a 'pincee de sel'.
He was a goalkeeper.

Taken very creditable literary turn this thread.
