To be taken with a 'pincee de sel'.
He was a goalkeeper.

Taken very creditable literary turn this thread.
The lovely, but rather mad, Bjork offered the following:

"Football is a fertility festival. Eleven sperm trying to get into the egg. I feel sorry for the goalkeeper"

I'm not sure I wholly agree with her on this but anyway.....

....Looking forward to tonight. Not sure I want Toby in the team if he isn't 100% focused. I recall the West Ham game at a similar point of last season. Walker, whose head had also been turned, was caught like a rabbit in the headlights and was playing like he had no idea where he was.

“I used to advertise my loyalty but I don't believe there is a single person that I didn't eventually betray.”
― Sol Campbell

Anyway I think Vertonghen will be rested - Toby to play, probably on the left.
Kane to be rested too, aimlessly wandering around in attack.
Need to win - St Woolwich is watching.

So I log on to say something useless about tonight's match, and I see THIS?! What the actual fuck!?

How can they get away with only 25% off?

Last time we lost to City our next game was away to an in-form Burnley side at their ground and I remember being worried that we could get rolled over again. Thankfully we produced a brilliant performance to win 3-0. I'd like to think that we'll have a similar reaction to losing to City last wknd and whilst it won't be easy, I'd expect us to get the job done.

I dont think Brighton will park the bus which will only allow us to play our game more effectively.

Brighton are also 13th currently, 7 points clear of 18th so whilst they still need points to survive, it's not quite as desperate as Stoke when we played them recently, which again I think could play into our hands.
they have a brutal run in.

Why do people keep suggesting to rest Kane?
Its the opposite of what he needs.

Southampton need three wins out of five and Stoke need three wins out of four to get above Brighton and nobody sees them getting it, whether they realise it or not Brighton believe that they are safe, they may look at the table and think, in all seriousness, that they are still in danger but subconsciously they will have relaxed.
This is not a game Brighton need to win, they'd be in real trouble if it was but they aren't and it isn't and that's all to the good for us.
I am certain Lucas Moura will start tonight and Poch may rest a couple of others but those that do play will be expected to give 100% as always.

Those ads are usually based off your search history. Have you been looking at dirty Arsenal sites without going into Safe Mode?
They are also based on what other users of the same site have been interested in, assuming that users might share more interests. That being said, might you have anything you'd like to confess related to why I keep seeing "meet asians now" when I'm a happily married white dude?

We need to get the Man City performance and result out of our system get three points, although Brighton will make it hard for us as they will be playing for survival

This will be a tough game and one if we are not careful we could lose. As BulletSpur says we have got to get the City result out of our head, and that includes Poch. He has to get the team right for this game, or if things are not working change quickly!!

Brighton probably have the toughest run in of anyone in the league, and I can easily see them getting dragged into the relegation zone - I think they have to play City, Liverpool and Man Utd, and us of course! What a shit run in if your a Brighton supporter, almost feel sorry for them! They have to take advantage of their home games and a win against us will give them the confidence to take on these other big clubs, a loss at home tonight and I am sure they will feel with the games ahead of them their time in the premier league could be over.

So they will give it their all tonight and we must be ready for that, we were not ready for the backlash of City for our game with them - We did not make changes when we needed to, and our players didn't tern up with the right attitude and determination to win. Yes I know this is Brighton, but West Brom showed against Utd, when your back is against the wall how hard they can fight for a win. We must go in with that attitude or we have nobody to blame but ourselves if we fail to make the Cl places.

We are better than Brighton, our place in the league tells us that, but do we have the balls!

I predict not, and a 1-0 win for the home team.

Playing any team that is relaxed with nothing to play for isn't always a good thing - remember Newcastle away last day of season 2 years ago......

This does have that feel to it that we could wobble a bit but I'm going for an away win

I really think we need to win to not give Chelsea a sniff. We really don't want that gap getting any closer - we may panic and they'll scent blood. Momentum is so important in football and I've still got memories of 'Mind the gap'.

The one thing we've got going for us is that they play Liverpool soon. Makes it imperative that we stay within reach of the Scousers by that point though so we've got all bases covered if Chelsea win.
