Did my eyes deceive me or was the first Eriksen freekick blocked by Murrays arms in front of him whilst he jumped? Isnt that a penalty?
Not if the ball would've hit his head or body had the hand been elsewhere. If he's made himself bigger with the hand then it's an offence.

Disappointing result dropping more points second game in a row although I still think we will be alright for fourth but as we all know we are a club that always makes things harder than they need to be.
A lot of poor performances from everyone last night Kane still not back to his best understandably, erikson couldn't pick a pass all night and as for aurier I was quite pleased when he joined but now I wish he had been refused entry into the UK due to his past problems.
He can't take a throw in he is always in the wrong position in fact he reminds me of the Italians during WW2 not sure what side he should be on, he is a poor excuse of a RB which is a shame because we were spoilt last year with rose and walker being in the form they were was a great attacking outlet for us how we miss them.

Rated this funny due to the Aurier comments, but I agree with all of this, particularly about the full backs. Davies and Trippier are decent players, who give their all and have had some very good spells for us, but they are simply not as good as Rose and Walker. Unfortunately Rose is not the same player after injury and it's debatable whether he'll get back to that level unless he's given a clear run in the team. Difficulty is he's not impressing enough when he gets the chance to make a case for starting over Davies.

I added the humour in because watching him play is laughable at times because his positional play is wank occasionally he makes superb tackles maybe more luck than judgement but when he gets it wrong he looks a clown.
If he was 19/20 I could understand a bit but he is 25 and at his peak looks like we bought a duff one there.

They're two points ahead of us despite us not playing a home game all season.

Liverpool aren't all that.

We got 4 points off them this year - don't let one poor result colour the reality.

Before yesterday I would have said we would finish above them too!!

Its funny....alot of comments focusing on Sissoko and Aurier but people are also failing to see that everyone else was poor. Davies and Son (In the first half) were particularly terrible

A Chelsea side with Tottenhams CL spot as a target will be a different beast to the one that has looked shit the last few weeks, Same used to happen to Arsenal.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Chelsea win all their games on the run in now.

I am not being particularly pessimistic, I genuinely see that to be the case. We've dangled a carrot in front of them tonight by playing a weak side for no good reason and dropping points.

Even if Chelsea win all their remaining games, which is unlikely with their current form imo they would finish on 75 points.
That means 7 more points and we are guaranteed 4th. With our remaining games 3 of which are at home and 1 away to a already religated West Brom I fancy our chances

If Chelsea beat Burnley they are five points behind with fifteen to play for?

So don't we need nine points if Chelsea win out?

Now your'e making my head hurt..........

Nope Chelsea wil only have 12 points to play for -- with four games left

Shame we dropped a couple of points. Always thought this was going to be a tough fixture.

For all our possession the reverse fixture in December was the same but we managed to secure the 3 points via a fluked cross looping in and a Son goal in the 8th minute.

No need for panic yet, maybe a somewhat lethargic looking performance, but a point nonetheless. Never bought into this notion that we should beat this team or that team.

Brighton are capable of a performance on their day, as are we. As a team we seem to have more of 'our days' compared to Brighton, hence the we'll win thinking. Not always going to be like that.

With the season nearing it's conclusion, could it be that Poch's well documented, demanding training regime is taking it's toll.

Whilst I'm sure he's well aware that the players will need managing more carefully as the seasons end draws near, I'm sure there were articles in the past that stated player performances dropped off in the latter stages of season as a result of his rigorous training.

Anyway. Massive game coming up at the weekend, hopefully those who've been rested return refreshed, and those who appeared tired find the thrill of a semi (hee hee) against UTD enough to give them a lift...enough to get us over the line.

But a lot of players move the head or the body to avoid being hit, surely being allowed to use your arms give you and advantage and should be illegal unless it is not deliberate?

But those two have been consistently poor in IMO, whilst we have had value from Davies and Son.

Apologies as I’m sure it’s been asked before but do we have to play a champions league qualifying game if we finish 4th?

You are not allowed to block using your arm/Hand. If the player in question was in the box when the fk struck their arm, it's Handball & a penalty, as their arms were not down by their side. German TV was questioning why the british tv was not making more of it.

The haters will hate, and although Sissoko isn't the best player by any stretch of the imagination, it fashionable to pick him and Aurier out - yes I know Aurier cocked up for the penalty. Like you said, we had 9 other players on that pitch that were poor. I can understand the frustration at not winning the match, I'm also not a Sissoko fan and Aurier will take a lot of convincing to believe he will be the number one RB, however, the meltdown regarding them two is funny and some comments embarrassing.

Was the way Moura was blocked in the penalty area when he seemed destined to score a penalty ? The Brighton player stuck his arm out in front of Moura to stop him moving onto the ball. Must be a penalty no ?

Agree with most of that, except the training bit. Think last night was more our players subconsciously or consciously thinking that Saturday is the game of the season and they were keeping something in the tank. Not going for the 50/50’s as much, not pressing as much. Not all of them but it only takes 1 or 2 to be off for a few minutes at a time and moves break down. Would chalk that game up to psychological factors. Win or lose, we will see a different team on Saturday and for the remaining league games. Shame we can’t challenge for second but in the overall scheme of things I think the players want to give everything to get to the final and will aim to get back to the league performances and CL qualification next week.

Begs the question though, if we make the cup final and CL qualification is still in doubt with two games to go...how will they approach the league games then? Don’t think Poch would let them lose focus but he is not on the pitch, as we saw last night.

In terms of progression, is it right to expect us to be able to challenge for a top 4 spot and a cup by now? I kind of feel that it isn't unreasonable.

There is no meltdown so no-one needs to be a drama queen. Every match those 2 play in there are question marks about them IMO whilst every single other player has at one time or other showed their value and why they are being selected whether they were poor or not last night. Are you wanting to curb anyone else having an opinion that is different from yours?
Mine is we should be able to find better than both of them. Does that constitute a meltdown? Does it make me a hater?
