Match: __ _ English Premier League (EPL) ___ Day 27

When: __ _ Saturday 23rd February 2019

Where: __ _ Turf Moor, Burnley

Kick Off: _ __ 12:30pm

Team Form: ___ Burnley DLDDW _____ Spurs LWWWW ___ (All Competitions)

Burnley are winless in their last 7 EPL meetings with us (D2 L5), since winning 4-2 on the final day of the 20089-10 campaign. Only Manu (9) are on a longer current unbeaten run in the EPL tan Burnley (7). The Clarets last had a longer unbeaten run in the top-flight between May-September 1966 (9 games).

Since beating Liverpool in August 2016, Burnley have only taken 2 points from their last 42 available at home against “big six” opponents in the EPL (W0 D2 L12). They have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those games, conceding 27 goals and netting 6 in return.

Burnley’s Ashley Barnes has scored in each of his last 3 EPL appearances, including scoring from the penalty spot in his last 2. Only 5 players have ever scored a penalty in three consecutive EPL games before, with Sergio Aguero in November 2017 the most recent.

We have kept a clean sheet on each of our last 3 visits to Burnley in the top-flight, winning twice and drawing once.

We have won 11 EPL away games this season, already our most in a single campaign in the competition. We last won more on the road in a single league season in 1984-85 (12).

Only Liverpool (1) have failed to score in fewer EPL games than us this season, with our only failings coming in home games against the two Manchester sides (0-1) vs Man City in October, (0-1 vs Manu in January).
We have scored a league high 12 EPL goals outside the area this season, while Burnley have conceded the most in this fashion so far (12).

Son Heung-min has scored 8 goals in his last 8 EPL appearances for us, netting in each of his last 3 in row. He last scored 4 consecutive top flight appearances in April 2017.

This is a potential banana skin. Recall we didn't have it that easy in our home game against them.

We need the win. Nothing less than that will do, if we want to be in contention at the business end of the season.

100% correct. If we were to win and Manu somehow beat Liverpool on Sunday, then we wont then have to rely on other results to win the title, as it would be totally in our hands. But winning it is a different story altogether unfortunately, as we would then have to beat Pool, City and the 2 scums amongst others!

Quite glad it's the lunchtime game. Last weekend without us was horrible, though in a way nice to watch FA Cup games as a neutral. We can get our win first, over 24 hours before Liverpool play at United.

I feel like I say this every time now, but I don't care about the performance as long as we win. I'd love a 4 or 5-0 thrashing, however, I'll take a squeaky bum time last minute winner again.

Going to be a very tough game. Burnley will be up for it as they felt aggrieved to lose late last time. Not that they deserved anything from the game but....

Exactly they didn't deserve anything from it, they weren't there to play football so they have no right to feel aggrieved.

They (entirely seriously) cheered, and got hyped up, winning the odd corner kick like they'd won the league. I didn't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for them.

I guess if you're supporting Burnley then winning a corner is probably the best you can hope for.

So Burnley had a great season last term, finishing 7th

What's gone wrong for them this season?

Their success was founded on Dyche's excellent defensive organisation. For some reason, the first 1/3 of this season their defence was all over the place and they ended up in the relegation zone, because they're never going to win any high-scoring competitions.

Once they put that right and tightened up at the back, they started on their current good run and got themselves (mostly) out of trouble. They've been playing like the team of last season again: frustrating, robust and usually effective at home.

Rose ill, Davies back in training but do we think he’s 100% yet? We could get SuperJan marauding up the wing again...

It's going to be very frustrating. I reckon we'll dominate, but it'll be a horrible match to watch. Hopefully we'll score early (optimistic rating) and force them out a little

I reckon we might as we had the week off and worked so well against Dortmund. Wonder if we'll see Llorente start as well

Can see us being frustrated in our attempts to break them down. A late goal with us nicking a 1 - 0 win would not surprise me at all.

Of course hoping for more, but if we do indeed secure a late 1 - 0 win, I'll take it, here's hoping my nerves can also.
