I got a phone call from a lady at the club today asking if I wanted to renew my membership for this season at a discounted rate. I never got round to renewing it in the summer. I said yes so she confirmed my address and then asked for my card details.

I instantly got suspicious and as I'd just go on the train I told her I'd rather not read out my card details so she said she'd call back tomorrow. Anyone know if this is genuine or a scam?

Generally if someone rings you and asks for card details you should never trust them.

Someone on COYS got the same call, but she had already signed back up. They said that the list they had wasn't upto date....

the only time i give my card details over the phone is that if i've phoned them up i.e vrgin trains or other. if i receive a call i always ask for their name and a contact number, then phone up the company they're allegedly from and see whether it is real or not!

The club need to know about this, could be a serious breach of security if somebody has a membership list.

I got an email offering me bronze membership for £10 off plus a £10 voucher for the spurs store which I thought was pretty good.

If the number that came up on your phone was something like 08345 365 0000 or something like that, then it was from the club.

Roooooobooooooffaaaaaaannnnn???????

ha ha...dont panic i is lurking

ok, there is a genuine offer going on at the moment but if you had been a member last season then the assistant would have said would you like to use your existing card details.

please do not give any caller your private details, if you are concerned, ask for their name and number and you will call back, anything you receive by email, double check that the usual spurs sig and clearance cert is at the bottom, this again should have a staff members name, call and ask.

Thank you for the alert and the necessary security issue is being closely monitored.

Yep, just got my call - she said she was calling from the club so i said, "More injuries? One second, let me grab my boots!!" but she explained something about cheap renewals, £30 + a £10 voucher for something - i just said i couldn't afford it right now, maybe next season...

Shame really, but i liked the scarf, the pen and even the keyring that doesn't stay shut, when i heard it was a ropey DVD and the opportunity to go into a draw to be able to not afford a season ticket, i figured there really wasn't much in it for me

i got a similar call but declined it because there is no point for me. I think they are just trying to squeeze a few more pennies out. You know what Levy's like!

very cynical you lot are sometimes
it could be a loophole trying to be shut, you know, having a long term continuous membership might just put you in the frame when the new stadium seating/season ticket allocations etc are sorted next year...
