Watched Toulouse today verses Rennes today and thought I'd give you an update on the two fella's we were talking about in the summer.

Just to recap, Toulouse play a 4141 type formation with Capoue playing the 1 between the defence and midfield and Sissoko playing centrally of the midfield 4, with often him and and the other central midfielder rotating in game as to who plays further forward.

This was a fairly dire game to be honest with very little truly quality football (Toulouse tried but lack real creative quality) with Toulouse having more possession.

Sissoko actually opened the scoring after the keeper's week punch fell straight to him just outside the box and he cooly slotted it straight back into the unguarded net.

It was one of those games when nobody really had a chance to shine - dire game against fairly dogged opposition but Capoue as with most occasions I've sen him quietly impressed with his composure and reading of the game. He also has a great engine and good passing range.

Sissoko was quite busy and apart from scoring showed some decent touches and also has a pretty good engine. He's not exactly tenacious in the tackle and seems to prefer playing the attacking role of his rotation. It's always hard to judge tenacity in the french league though because it's virtually a no contact affair.

Sissoko playing central midfield in a 442 would worry me slightly and and for me definitely wouldn't be an immediate improvement on Jenas (although he is similar type - jack of all not quite master of any) . As a squad midfielder he'd be a pretty good addition and we must remember he's young and would make a good understudy.

Capoue always impresses me and I believe he could easily play the holder in a 442 or 451. This kid really reminds me of Viera. He sits deep protecting the defence, reads the game, often intercepts and strides forward and sparks attacks. Can tackle, move with the ball, drop a shoulder and shake off an opponent, and pass long and short. Whether he is as mentally tough as Viera is debatable but he desperately needs to be tested in a better quality league next season. The french league is a good place to learn and develop but it is tepid.
