So.. other headlines could have been:

Based on: "I'm not saying he's better than what we've got, because we've got the best around up front."

"Berbatov is no better than what we've got. Carrick slams Berba!"

Based on: "I've watched him quite a bit because he's playing for my old club and I try and watch them whenever I can."

"Carrick regrets Man Utd move."

Based on: "you always welcome that whether that's Berbatov or whoever"

"Carrick says Man Utd strikeforce is not up to scratch!"

Based on: "But we would welcome any world-class players who can strengthen the squad and Berbatov certainly would do that."

"Carrick feels Man Utd needs to add depth to their squad."

Or combined with "I've watched him quite a bit because he's playing for my old club and I try and watch them whenever I can."

"Carrick feels Man Utd squad lacks depth and threatens to leave in the next transfer window."

It all depends on what you are trying to sensationalize at the moment.

These aren't journalists, and those aren't newspapers, and that sure as hell isn't news!

Sadly, Carrick finds himself unable to break into their starting eleven this season with Hargreaves and Anderson ahead of him.

Ramos can surely convince Berba that this is the club with ambitions and on to great things. Let's win a cup or two and I'm sure he will stay.

Maybe we should offer Man Utd £5m in Janury for Carrick!

Personally, I think bidding for Carrick isn't as far-fetched as it may appear. However, I think maybe a remainder of the season loan may be better in order to lay the groundwork for a permanent move. The problem with that though is that if he shows great for for Spurs, then Man U could refuse to seel him and we'd have ended up providing him with match practise and training for nothing.

Anyway, I'd love to see Carrick back at the Lane and although not particularly likely, I've heard far less likely transfer rumours this season.

The thing is, like someone said on the front page, he could have just said I dont want to talk about speculation on other teams players. I agree about the sensationalism, but did he really need to say anything at all?

the one thing all players want is to play and that is why we have a good chance of keeping berba and even getting carrick back
