As I don't think he's worth much on the market, I'd keep him and give him a start in our first FA Cup game. If he is alright, then give him a couple of sub appearances in the EPL to further gauge his progress. If he does reasonably well give him a couple of rotational starts and ask him again to sign a new contract.
