Tottenham eye transfer of Southampton's Cedric Soares to replace Manchester City target Kyle Walker

Tottenham have joined the list of clubs interested in Southampton right-back Cedric Soares.

Spurs' former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has the 25-year-old under consideration as Manchester City are keen on his current first-choice at the position, England international Kyle Walker.

Soares won Euro 2016 with Portugal last summer and has maintained his consistency since joining Southampton from Sporting Lisbon two years ago for just £4.7million.

Southampton are now battling to keep him.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me. He's played with Alderweireld and Wanyama. Also with Dier at Sporting Lisbon. Won the European Cup with Portugal and is ahead of Periera in national team. Premiership experience is vital and I think is better suited in certain games than Trippier.

Does he have enough pace and is he good enough going forward? Not sure

Southampton played with pretty advanced full backs for a lot of last season (albeit in a back four most of the time I think) so he's used to that role.

I think Bertrand got more of the plaudits but by all accounts Soares did very well there.

I think he'd be a good option if the price is right.

Lyall said on a podcast that he thinks the club believes Toljan is still too raw at this stage so it probably isn't him. He listed quite a few RBs we've scouted.
He looked brilliant against England last night, but not surprised if we're going for a more experienced option with KWP coming through as well.

All this fucking uncertainty with walker is fucking up our recruitment because until he goes we won't buy another right back and by the time he does go we may have missed all our targets!!

There won't be any uncertainty within the club as to whether he's staying or going.
