Celta Vigo have confirmed an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido on loan.

The Egyptian has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane this season since completing a permanent move to the club.

He had impressed during a previous 18-month loan spell from Roma, but has not had the same impact since returning to North London.

Mido has scored just once in nine Premiership games and is fourth choice behind Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.

Spanish side Celta have claimed Spurs are looking to sell the player before the close of the transfer window, but are unlikely to meet the asking price.

Instead, Celta president Carlos Mourino has revealed the club are hoping to strike a deal to bring Mido to Balaidos.

Mourino told AS: "Tottenham want to sell him, but Mido has a price that we cannot afford.

"We are looking for a loan deal. We would like to partner him with (Fernando) Baiano because he is a good player, who has already done well here.

"We are doing our best to get him, but we are keeping our options open."

Mido previously spent a loan stint at Celta towards the end of the 2002/03 season when he was signed from Ajax.

providing a replacment is brought in i think we should cut our losses with mido, like samson when he lost his hair he lost his strength.

mido has been out injured so he hasn't been playing. he got himself a personal trainer at the start of the season to help him keep in shape, he want to make a go of it here and we should let him

I dont believe this. It cant happen. Mido has his chance now berbatov is injured.

Players don't become crap overnight and mido played very well last season. He has been injured for much of this campaign and the stark contrast between a "smooth as a cashmere cod-piece" berbatov and an unfit mido has perhaps led many of us to feel that the big Egyptian is not good enough.

I disagree, those calling for Bent or A.N.Other striker do not seem to give much consideration to how we will keep the then quartet of berbo, keano, defoe and bent happy? Strikers who know they are not going to start most games but are happy to accept it are rare. Strikers with those qualities that are still able to perform when unfit and playing small cameo roles are even more scarce.

Unless we have a decent and similar replacement lined up, then mido should stay.

For me Bent would replace Keane and not Mido. I dont see Bent as a target man type myself.

Calling Mido to be a 4th choice FW is not accurate...

He's a 2nd choice out of two, he is only a sub for Berba...
And MJ is a fair enough to lead him start ahead of the bulgarian if he proved to be better...

Moreover, the article menions nothing of the injuries he gets...

Tommorow all eyes will be on you Mido

Deffo need someone in 1st unless Barneys fit and going to be given a chance, cant really see the point of loaning him out at all, i would prefer him to go to Man C in part ex for Micah (well, ya can dream)
