Cheers for all the comments. Kjaer sure seems the poll stand out at the moment.

I should have mentioned this in my original post too... Is Dervite an option?? As with Kaboul you don't captain French underage teams (i'd heard he captained the U19's) without having something about you.
I raised Dervite with someone whose opinion I value and who follows the fortunes of our younger and reserve players and he said 'Not really' as a long term prospect.' Lacks pace'
I think he was unfairly crucified for his mistake against Celtic and saw him a couple of times pre-season when he looked a bit raw but basically sound and calm.
Isn't that what coaches and training is for, to upgrade the not quite ready to raring and able to go? We do have ahabit of writing players off (Kaboul, Boateng, even O'Hara.)

Kjaar has interested both Man.Utd and Real Madrid in the past and unless we make Champions' League this year would assume he would not come to us.

I agree, plenty of people got on his back after that. Funny really, it's not like Dawson didn't throw in a few shockers when he was younger and now he seems to be god's gift to Spurs. And you're spot on re the coaches. That is exactly what they're supposed to be doing! That role is going to become even more critical once the new stadium costs start affecting the transfer budget.

Daws was more or less beyond criticism in 2005-2006; although he was helped out an awful lot by Ledley and the much-maligned Salty (who covered his arse a lot better than Chimbonda and Hutton) he cost us several goals, more than Salty. We then had the usual hero-to-zero, because he was too inexperienced to be the main man, and the renaissance.

Unless you demand total perfection for 90 minutes, every game, Daws is pretty damned good. FFS, I've seen Carvalho, who many reckon makes Terry look good, make several massive bloopers.

Kjaer I haven't seen, but I have seen a fair bit of Dortmund's Subotic, who is exceptional (and I don't think we have a hope of him either). But many were bigging up Coloccini not so long ago.

Let's back what we have, guys—and if Ledders reckons Kaboul has what it takes to be a top CB, provided he learns the meaning of 'positioning', I'm not going to contradict him.
