They are the elite now.

Doesn't work that way I'm afraid. Look at Dortmund. Athletico will have to sell due to their troubled finances and the vultures will be all over them.

The thing is Atletico have some huge players coming through they just need to keep Koke and in 2 years time

They keep these players over the next 3 years and it may be the best CM in Spain. I hope this midfield is allowed to play together as its potential is insanely high

Koke Torres
Saul
They lose Courtois(who may want to move on a permanent move, they still have Asenjo who has been very good for CL hopefuls Villarreal.

The only one they haven't got a replacement is for Deigo Costa, Im guessing Leo Baptistao will replace him but whether he is ready is uncertain.

They will use the Costa money to strengthen the squad even further.

The only thing better than Chelsea losing, would have been them winning and terry getting sent off and band from the final, my god that would have been amazing

Yeah I hope they don't get pillaged too hard but that is the nature of the football food chain unfortunately. We do it to Ajax and Real do it to us.

Its great for football that teams like Dortmund and Athletico can build a squad capable of getting to the CL final but shame it doesn't last long.

I have new found respect for Eden Hazard.

“Chelsea are not made to play football, we are good on the counter-attack, a bit like Real against Bayern Munich,” Hazard said. "Often, I'm asked to do it all by myself and it's not easy."

I was out last night so missed the game. I'm assuming Atletico fully deserved the victory?

Gotta laugh at Robben's comments before the match:

"I don't really care [who wins]. I watched the 90 minutes last week and I couldn't watch it – the match had nothing to do with football.

"The two managers (Jose Mourinho and Diego Simeone), I respect them and everybody has their own way, but I think Real Madrid will win the Champions League and I wish them all the best."

Yesterday's semi-final was much more watchable than the one on Tuesday

I dunno, they're rumoured to be interested in just about everyone these days!
True.

It would be mightily amusing to see the original oil money club losing their best player to one of the new (richer) oil money clubs.

If anyone watched the Juve - Benfica game tonight you would have seen some of the best defending from any team in a while. Benfica were even down to nine men for the final ten minutes! Was tense!

I don't think I've ever seen a back 4 keep such a compact shape when they went down to 9 men. We would have crumbled 5x over.

Valencia V Sevilla was a great game too, despite what people say Spanish football is still dominating. And you could see what it mean to those clubs to make it to the EL final.. The trophy could be so good if Uefa just gave it some proper respect considering the money isn't up to much.

I have new found respect for Eden Hazard.

Was the impression I got when 6 defenders were named in the starting XI. Way too much pressure on less than half the team to find a way through. Guess they were looking for set pieces. Luckily Willian made a mess of them.

God damn it, so many reasons why I hate that Chelsea won the Champions League - the whole Hazard courting debacle was agonising.
