Not that bothered about this. We had an 'easy' group last time round and completely fucked it.

I want bigger teams so they players take it seriously.

The bad news is that I'm afraid that boat has probably already sailed. Two problems:

a) There's a ten-point gap between us in 20th and Zenit in 19th
b) After next season we lose the points from 12-13, which is currently our best season of the five with 19.2856 (when we lost the Europa League Quarter Final to Basel on penalties).

That means to become a secure Pot 2 team before the changes come in, we need to at least reach the Champions League semi-final next season and possibly reach the final. Unless you can play very well to progress ahead of the top teams in the group stage, you either need to take advantage of a lucky draw like we had this season, or consistently take the Europa seriously by reaching the last 8.

The more mixed news is that with those changes they're drastically altering the coefficient system, taking away the impact of the performance of other teams from your league and instead rewarding teams for historical success in European competitions (from more than five years beforehand). We'll have to wait and see how that effects us anyway depending on exactly how they do it, but it could mean for instance we overtake Man City and Arsenal but fall miles behind United and Liverpool.

Not only this, but the four teams ranked immediately above us - Zenit, Shakhtar, Napoli and Leverkusen - all lose fewer points than we do next season, as do the ten teams immediately below us except Valencia.

This is one season I'd absolutely love a group of death. Give me Bayern, Barca and Celtic over Spartak Moscow, Porto and Salzburg all day long.

I know Celtic doesn't exactly scream "death", but the atmosphere would be something else.

I think that would actually be better for us and draw better performances out of us.

Bring it on i say, the whole point of getting here is by playing the best sides. Tottenham barca camp nou will be electric for example.

Wonder why the club didn't do the CL season ticket this season.

We can also get drawn into a group that includes both Barca and Bayern I think. After last years uninspiring showing in a 'poor' group, it could be fun..

They are. Open to ST holders today at 10, and Gold/L'white members tomorrow at 10.

Thanks completely missed this. I have had a quick look and cant see any mention of the offer of a guaranteed seat for the knockouts with the take up of this offer like last season (not that it mattered) Anyone seen that?
