Liverpool are already in the final. Roma have nothing. It was a fluke that game against Barcelona
It actually wasn't a fluke. Barcas midfield is trash. It's terrified me for a while now that they'd do the smart thing and go after Eriksen. I hope they don't.

That was the point of Coutinho, he was cup tied for the CL.

Really disappointed with the reactions of people on here. So much bitterness coming from people who can't accept Juve beating Spurs in the last round, and allowing it to cloud their opinions. That was such a soft penalty, there was a hand on the back but it wasn't excessive and Benatia got the ball. Vasquez hit the deck the second he could hear Benatia come up behind him and the ref should never have called it. A big talking point at work and amongst my friends and I'm struggling to find anyone that thinks it was a stonewall pen. Quite a few 50/50's but not the levels of exaggeration on here. Apologies if this pisses people off but quite a few posters showing how fickle and bitter fans can be. If Real had knocked us out in the last round you just know it would be a complete reversal of opinion. It's also one of those where had it have been Spurs in Juve's position with those decisions people would be apoplectic and calling for Oliver's head.

Buffon was understandably frustrated, albeit probably too animated, but that's pretty standard for Italians to be so animated. A straight red for protesting for a man who has never been anything but a consumate professional and a gentleman of the game is incredibly harsh. If he said something untorwards then fair enough, but a straight red is over the top and Oliver lost his nerve.

It's frustrating for me as I've also been a Juve fan all my life and totally expect people on here to be one sided when it's Juve vs Spurs, but to see people carry forward the bitterness is disappointing. I genuinely wanted Spurs to go through, I've always been 60/40 towards Spurs in terms of my allegianeces and I really felt we needed and deserved it more. I really feel Spurs would've gave more against Real than Juve so that's a shame, but I guess that's football. Gutted to see both teams out but very proud of them both.

As you know, I'm a huge fan of Italian football generally, I like to see the Italian teams do well generally, have loved what Juve have done last couple of years in CL, and last night, as in their previous campaigns wanted Juve to win, for various reasons, not least because I think they'd be more pragmatic/tactically proficient opponents for Liverpool.

But what pissed me right off was Chielini's post match "we know Spurs find a way to lose" bullshit. Apart from being crassly insensitive and and unnecessary thing to say after his team had been largely outplayed all night, it was bollocks, and hypocritical bollocks from a team that when they step outside a league they financially dominate also keep finding ways to lose their biggest games.

The suggestion that Spurs bottled it against Juve couldn't be more wrong. If anything Spurs showed too much bollocks, in keeping going at Juve when already effectively two goals to the good, what they lacked was a bit of pragmatism and nous, to sit on what they had.

Football does this to us Syn, it's an emotive game, and seeing a recent gloating vanquisher get hoisted on their own petard, with the mouthpiece who twisted the post match knife prominent in that demise will always be a tasty dish, even cold.

I think it was a penalty and I'd say it if it was us. I say it as someone who wanted Juve to win, and equally, Real to lose. And I think Bufon let himself and his team down, because sure as shit they stand a better chance of saving a penalty with him between the sticks. He's effectively bottled a major moment when his team needed him.

(And for the record, you can read what I thought of our debacle away at Chelsea two years ago, for consistency on issues like this)

For the record mate, I think Juve only have themselves to blame, they made the same mistake they made in the final last year, settled for parity, stopped playing. They did they same against us in the first leg and were very lucky to get out of it. A case of needing a little more bollocks and a smidgeon less pragmatism. Irony eh.

Agree with Bus-Conductor 100%. I wanted Juve to beat Real but my heart sank when they started playing for time at the end of normal time. Wasn’t a surprise when Real created an opening and I’m afraid it was always going to be a penalty, however much I hoped it wouldn’t.

Italian in lack of class shocker!

Buffon has made himself look a complete knob, and he’s widely regarded as being something of a gentleman, relatively speaking.

Roma being the underdogs here may very well suit them. If Roma can be very smart defensively and not give Liverpool any real advantage at Anfield then they could do it. They haven't played a team who are defensively strong in the competition yet so I'm clinging on to that hope.

Yeah I believe that as well. Also, what surprised me in the first Liverpool - City leg was how Liverpool totally outmuscled City in the midfield. Similarly when we've come up against Liverpool this year we totally dominated and outmuscled them in the midfield. Henderson, Wijnaldum and Can are very limited central midfielders but as their sole job is to hassle the opponents and pass it towards Salah it works. That's Liverpools true weakness in my opinion and Romas strong midfield coupled with a well organised defence can hurt Liverpool.

I've let the dust settle and had time to calm down from the game earlier on in the week. What you say is true, Juve were their own worst enemy yet again by trying to grind everything to a halt when they should've just kept their foot on the pedal. Real have always been vulnerable at the back, most Spanish sides are due to the nature of their game, and Juve should've kept the momentum going. I agree with you regarding Chiellini's comments, they were incredibly short-sighted and hypocritical. I was really pissed off when he said those things after the Spurs game as I knew it would bite us in the arse. I have to accept that Juve are legends on the European stage, we've lost more CL finals than any team in history, why he'd say those things is beyond me.

The penalty...it's a tough one. I've seen some angles where I think Vázquez went to ground way too easily and others where it looked like he was bowled over. I guess I'm always going to see it that way because I have a bias and it's no different to when you see it happen to Spurs players. Some will defend it and others will call it soft. Either way it was unfortunate and Buffon shouldn't have lost his temper. I don't really blame Buffon as I'd have probably felt the same in the heat of battle and reacted the same way. I do personally think Oliver was way to rash to give him a red, I think he panicked. Nevertheless, what's done is done and I now hope Roma can learn from our mistake against Liverpool. Don't let up, keep the momentum going.

People are writing Roma off, but they are very capable of going through. In fact, both teams are on a par this season. Roma sit 3rd in the table with 60 points in 31 games. Liverpool have 6 points more but having played 2 games more. They're both having the same kind of season and both playing some very good football. I actually think it could be the more exciting tie out of the two and I'm really looking forward to the two games. I want Roma to win as I really like the coach, he plays some really good football and develops talent well. The derby is on tomorrow night and with Lazio and Roma both on 60 points it could be a really good match.

That's certainly not unique to Italian footballers, fans or media/pundits. I think the way Italian football as whole dealt with the death of David Astori was classy. Juve fans applauding Ronaldo's goal. Buffon himself has been a classy guy over the years. English teams, players, fans and media/pundits have contributed their fair share of classless shit. Chelsea after the Barca defeat a few seasons ago eg.

This is disgusting:

Michael Oliver: Police investigate text threats against referee's wife

These google translations is killing me "Your husband must die very soon. Troy"- But on a serious note; death threats is not funny and this is unfortunately not the first time a referee has been threaten. Anders Frisk quit after chelsea's champions league game when he recieved death threats from the chelsea supporters.
Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo recieved verbal and physical abuse from chelsea players Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba during and after chelsea's champions league game.
