27 - Liverpool have scored more goals than any other team in the Champions League this season, with 24 of those goals coming across their last five games. Unstoppable.

lots of goals yes and a great win last night but they haven't half played some shite pub teams along the way. I don't think dortmund x 2, madrid x2 and juventus would have let them score so many.

we'll see what happens when they eventually come up against a side who are defensively sound and who don't have a keeper that would give a traffic cone a run for it's money.

It’s so typical that Liverpool get the easy tie, but even so winning 5-0 is very impressive. Portuguese opposition was possibly the perfect draw for Pool as defensively they are normally incredibly suspect and it will be very interesting to see how they do next round. Saying that, no doubt they will get another easy tie. They have been so lucky this campaign.

Ah well, dream over, it was nice while it lasted but Liverpool are just too good for anyone else.

Mane & Salah are on superb form, Salah in particular taken it up a level this year, but remember they've done pretty well for injuries too, so while i'm wholly impressed it'll be interesting to see how they do if either of them two are crocked for any length of time.

On a side note, while I was having a browse of physioroom.com for current injuries, i had to laugh at the picture they've chosen for Huddersfield's Chris Lowe :D

If you look at the form lines throughout Europe this season we're ahead of Real Madrid, who got the better of the supposedly best side in Europe ( PSG ) last night, while Liverpool who we are a better side than stuffed a Porto team, who have been superb at home all season.

Add that to the fact we scored 2 at Juventus, where nobody scores, I think the only team ahead of us in the CL on form right now is Man City.

Barcelona I know are unbeaten in La Liga but I'll wait to see how they play against Chelsea next week as certainly the English teams seem to be ahead of everyone else this season.

That PSG trio would be terrifying to watch on the counter, but at the end of the day, they’ve still got Emery in charge.

They won’t be winning the CL until he’s gone. Surprised he wasn’t booted out after the Barca tie.

The guy has won the Europa League three seasons running, can't think of too many managers with better European pedigree? They'd already tried Ancellotti. Mourinho maybe ?

If they had brought in a decent keeper in the Jan transfer window then I would have been ever so slightly worried.

But they didn't.

Liverpool can't win it surely? I mean how are their fans going to keep track of elite European wins if they need to use a 2nd hand?

"errrmmmm, ermmmm fi...ermm five plus one times la!"

Edit: That and the stadium will flood if that many Liverpudlians try to say six at the same time

That's a pretty good achievement in itself but if you look at it his Sevilla side never even finished Top 4 in his reign finishing behind Bilbao and Villarreal.

I've always said a team is an exact embodiment of a manager's mentality and PSG are a bunch of legends, they don't know how to grind games out and they have no steel about them, Emery is a small time coach who doesn't deserve to manage a club like PSG.

I can see Conte going to them next season and making them a real force.

I don't think so, Bayern were a force in Germany for so long that they dominated both domestically and on the European stage, PSG can easily go up a level under a better manager.

Give PSG their due. I watched the highlights against RM and they should have been 2-3 goals to the good really. The score line flattered Real.

In each season since Emery has been in charge they've flattered to deceive. Last night's game was a really good example as soon as Real scored the 2nd their heads dropped and they went into their shell.

Seems like every time they come against a team with a bit of grit they don't dig in and feel sorry for themselves.

I think that's a bit unfair really. The Europa League (as we know) is a bastard to win, and he's won it three times with a non "uber" club. He's won more than Pochettino.

And I don't agree that a team is always an exact embodiment of it's manager's mentality, if that was the case coaches like Roy Keane would be more successful.

I don't think Emery is a coaching great or anything, and Sevilla was massively influenced by Monchi's talent as a DOF. But I think for a club that (should) walk it's league (PSG) the idea of appointing a coach who'd known fantastic success in European competition, to try and crack the CL, wasn't a bad one. I think it was an innovative bit of thinking and he deserved a shot. You never know where the next Mourinho will evolve, and the guy will add a league title and a couple more domestic trophies to his CV this year.

PSG have been fucking unlucky with their CL draws, and last year they were robbed by a referee.

.....not too mention, other than Alves, they have a very young team defensively.

Granted, but even BT were saying they were dominant, with the highlights just showing the clear chances.

RM got 2 late goals to flatter the score line. Had PSG been more clinical the narrative on Emery would be different...

Imo its hard to judge how good Liverpool were because Porto were so bad. They offered nothing. Couldn't believe how bad they were actually.

Liverpool are like Arsenal now, they lose a game and its the end of the world, Klopps crap, why didn't we buy a keeper, we wont get top 4, we cant defend, boo hoo... this was just a few weeks back.
Win a game against a shower of shite and its 'fkin 20 years of dominance is just around the corner.'
They're both just so funny.
Really looking forward to the fall in a few weeks.
