Means nothing. Zidane's only experience in management prior to taking the job was unofficially managing the B team for a season without a single coaching badge!

Zidane was always primed for that role though, he had an affiliation with Real just like Pep had one with Barca so it's different.

No because surely for both us and Liverpool to drop out of the top 4 would rely on Arsenal finishing top 4 unless I'm missing something, which is no longer mathematically possible since the weekend. i.e. you'd have to have:

City
Utd
Chelsea
Arsenal
Liverpool
Us

Right?
This is the exact scenario where we can be denied CL despite finishing top four:

The table must finish like so
Man City
Man United
Chelsea
Tottenham
-----------
Liverpool
Arsenal

And both of the two at the bottom win their respective Euro competitions. Any nation can only have a max of five CL representatives. If this were to happen, fourth place will drop into Europa.

But when Arse get dumped out tonight we can stop talking about this.

That’s a bit harsh. TBF, they’re a really good side now, with a terrific front line and a capable manager. Sure they had an easy run but I doubt very much we would have gone as far with the same opposition. They unsettle teams hugely with their pace and movement. They have been inconsistent this year but they are generally able to win the hard games that matter, on a more regular basis than we are.
Saying that, Klopp has a bad record in finals and I have a feeling that Real, despite all their weaknesses, will find a way to win the final.

They have an exciting front line with great movement no doubt, but as a collective, they aren’t anything particularly special. Sort of like a modern day Newcastle of the 90’s, who were entertaining back in them days. They are riding the crest of a wave in Europe and fair play as I said, but they will be remembered as a big underdog winner if they can repeat the Istanbul victory, as opposed to a truly elite side.

They are probably the 8th/9th side in Europe, at best, right now.

Ffs. Somebody post a table of Net Spend and wage spend Vs table outcome.

We have surpassed Arsenal on less spending - before moving into our new stadium - and look to have staked our place in the elite of Europe.

Pep and Mourinho spent over 400, 000 million pounds to get City and United to get past us.

So yeah we spent a lot less than our rivals? So what?

Do europe elite care about our or their net spend?

Also when in the interview and he is asked what experience of winning he has, he cant exactly say well I have overachieved considering my last clubs net spend as the counter to that point is that Leicester and Arsenal won trophies despite having shitter squads than yourself

They are a devastating team going forward, but rely way too much on the long ball to Salah, also have an ordinary midfield; defence is improved, but still has plenty of weaknesses and inexperience.

Apart from City, Liverpool have had Porto and Roma in the KO stages, teams that any of the others in the draw would have loved to get. They barely got past Roma, and maybe wouldn't have...had the officials done their jobs.

So much in this game, and any sport, is related to stylistic match ups between teams, and the psychological aspect. And they had the tools to unsettle City. They'd already beaten City in the league. Pep set his team up poorly first leg and paid the price. Anfield was rocking, the officials helped Liverpool out again...and the tie was done.

Thing is, imo, if we'd drawn City, I'm pretty sure we'd have gone out. We don't match up well with them. We haven't had the recent results to put pressure on their players or on their coach. Had we drawn Liverpool, I think we'd have got past them. We showed we could weather that Anfield storm, have no fear factor against them, and could get a result at their place.

Think we'd have been a much worse match up for Real than Liverpool will in a CL final. I think City and United would have too. That Liverpool midfield, Henderson and Milner perhaps, will get a Modric and Kroos that are motivated, and a RM front line that will be moving all over the place and stretch their defence. Salah will have as much work tracking Marcelo or Carvajal as they will tracking him.

It'll be interesting to see how Klopp approaches this game, 'cause they'll be up against a clinical attack, a superior midfield, and players who are comfortable on the ball from defence to attack. I see plenty of yellow cards, and possibly a red...hopefully all Liverpool. RM should walk this unless something crazy happens...

I'm convinced Liverpool will beat Madrid in the final. If they couldn't live with the energy of our attack they have no chance with Liverpool.

I also think, with less logic, that Madrid can't keep winning the CL, particularly playing as they have this year.
If Liverpool get the game changing decisions go in their favour as they have in yhe finals Madrid may as well stay at home. Hope that goes the other way, Karma.

Through my own stupidity I’ve managed to concoct a situation this evening where I’m watching the game at a pub with a load of Liverpool “fans”. Could be a terrible evening.

Not sure I want to watch this. Never used to hate Liverpool but their fans are annoying AF. Definitely hate Madrid. If they both get too many men sent off at the same time in a mass brawl do they both lose 3-0?
