Breathtaking goal from Ronaldo tonight and amazing applause from the juve supporters

What a player, goal number 649. Flipping joker!

Greatest goal ever: Pele's incredible chest down, flick overhead, swivel and shot against Sweden in the 1958 World Cup Final.

Best almost goal ever, when he dummies the ball and goes round the other side of the keeper

The most amazing piece of football I’ve ever seen. Never tire of watching that

I haven't been overly impressed with either of these teams, I'll be amazed if Real win it again.

I'm just pleased Chiellini had his "Spurs are legends" words stuffed down his throat tonight. Always liked the bloke as a player but it was fucking crass bollocks to come out with after his team had skanked a result they didn't deserve against us.

Best goal ever? Even Andy Carroll has scored a better goal.

I don't like Ronaldo much, but his goal tonight was a more difficult skill, it was an outstanding goal and had me whooping like kid.

Really great to see the Juve fans applauding him and Ronaldo saluting them back.

Fox sports commentator just said "they may struggle in La Liga but no one can touch Real in Europe".

Almost like we never spanked them

They're a different animal in the k.o stage, we would had found it far tougher if we faced them in this round.

Took me back all those years to the greatest goal ever scored - Greavsie against Leicester. I was one of the privileged few that stood for maybe three or four minutes applauding it. Never witnessed that sort of reaction since - until this morning.

I remember being a member on another forum and said 80m for Ronaldo is a steal. The United fans laughed at me. I said you have to compensate potential losses of titles and champions league and what Madrid would get in return including shirt sales. I said at the time it should be nearer 150m! Hindsight 150m back then would have been a good deal too!!

A sensational player. It's hard as everyone always says Pele and Maradona are the greatest, yet disregard Messi and Ronaldo compared to them. Surely these boys are on par or surpassed them?

Ronaldo just now come at the peak of his career .. surely he can play next 6 or 7 years at the top .. Problem is madrid need to find out replacement of bale , benzema , isco , modrid before finding the replacement of cr7...

Ronaldo is past his career peak, but that doesn't mean he isn't bloody brilliant.

Peak Ronaldo could keep it up for a full season, whereas this season and last Real have managed his games and his form a lot more. They're priming him like an Olympic athlete, building his form so he peaks at the right time - i.e. in the second half of the season when the CL knockouts start. When he reaches that form he's incredible, but he can't keep it up for the entire season any more.

It'll be very interesting to see how the next few seasons pan out for him, but they will certainly try the same again next year.

Actually for me the most iconic (and one of the best) was Carlos Alberto’s goal for Brazil v Italy in the 1970 World Cup final - the one which he hit with the outside of his foot after running onto Pele’s deliciously simple lay -off

Great hit from Ronaldo but still prefer Rooneys vs City, that was majestic, I actually lept out of my seat when that went in, fantastic goal.

I think these two will be held in that category when the current generation between say 18-30 get older. People will remember the records and individual goals these two pulled off and place them in the Pele and Maradona bracket.

Argument to say that Messi and Ronaldo are the best two footballers ever to play the game, I'd certainly go along with that.

Guys, guys, guys....what heresy is this....those imposters pale into insignificance when compared the real best ever World Cup goal:
