Cant believe some people think that isn't a penalty. He's completely the wrong side and in desperation tries to run through Vazquez all arms and legs in order to win the ball.

The only ones who have done wrong there are the Juve defence, half a dozen of them caught ball watching instead of being in the right position for the second ball, and so undid all their good work and were brutally punished.

Stonewall penalty

Was a clear pen. Defender was on the wrong side. I have seen those not given... but the ref had a clear view. Juve was also kinda lucky they were playing for extra time and had a sub left. I wonder who would be in goal.

My biggest "what if" has to to be if the challenge has not gone in. Vasquez seems to be wanting to control the ball and bring it to feet. Most likely he will not be in a shooting position, momentum will pull him to the right and the defender should be able to just force him to pass the ball back to Ron.

Was an awesome match thou. Pity there had to be a loser...

It was a pen and a sending off.

Said the same about Chielini after the last game, but what's Allegri done/said to earn your ire ?
Not saying it wasn’t a penalty, only that Vasquez had decided he wanted a penalty rather than an attempt on goal before the event occurred. The camera angle from in front of them shows this.

Allegri, I just remember his pettiness and childishness after we dumped his Milan side out in 2011.

I don’t even register Szczęsny as being relevant. Mediocrity who pretends to buy into the rivalry as if it compensates for his failure to make it as anything more than a reserve goalkeeper.
That's just total bollocks. You don't sign for Juve for being average. He was a beast for Roma and if Wenger had half a brain, he would have kept him at Arsenal. Gooner bias aside, Szczęsny is a fantastic goalkeeper. I don't like him personally, but you can't deny him talent. He was brought in as Buffon's successor.

If it was Koscielny on Alli, it's a penalty.

If it was Sanchez on Aubameyang it isn't a penalty.

That's how I'm choosing to look at it.

Buffon says the referee "cannot destroy dreams like that, you cannot ruin the dreams of a team". Perhaps their dreams being ruined had less to do with the referee and more to do with losing 3-0 at home.

Not even seen the decision and don't care if it was right or not. If there was ever a team more proficient at the dark side of the game and 'playing a referee' than Juve. The irony that they can complain about the referee so much, even from Buffon.
Glad to see them go out like that, no wonder the rest of Italian football hates them.
Good team but no respect for them.

If he expects to be Buffon’s successor then he will be mighty upset when he spends the peak years of his career as back up to Donnarumma.

I would assume it was due to the double punishment rule. He was trying to get the ball (albeit badly) so it's a yellow and a penalty

He had been booked less than 10 mins earlier for his double foul on the half-way line.
Should have been a second yellow for the penalty.

That's how I'm seeing it as well.

I reckon the same people who are saying it's a 'stonewall' penalty would be up in arms if it was given against Spurs.

I understand why it was given, and I think looking at it again it probably is a penalty, but to say it's clearly a penalty is nonsense, particularly as the guy was going down before there was any contact.

I don't feel sorry for Juve at all, and I think they were lucky not to have more players sent off for that reaction to the penalty, but it was definitely a soft one.

Really disappointed with the reactions of people on here. So much bitterness coming from people who can't accept Juve beating Spurs in the last round, and allowing it to cloud their opinions. That was such a soft penalty, there was a hand on the back but it wasn't excessive and Benatia got the ball. Vasquez hit the deck the second he could hear Benatia come up behind him and the ref should never have called it. A big talking point at work and amongst my friends and I'm struggling to find anyone that thinks it was a stonewall pen. Quite a few 50/50's but not the levels of exaggeration on here. Apologies if this pisses people off but quite a few posters showing how fickle and bitter fans can be. If Real had knocked us out in the last round you just know it would be a complete reversal of opinion. It's also one of those where had it have been Spurs in Juve's position with those decisions people would be apoplectic and calling for Oliver's head.

Buffon was understandably frustrated, albeit probably too animated, but that's pretty standard for Italians to be so animated. A straight red for protesting for a man who has never been anything but a consumate professional and a gentleman of the game is incredibly harsh. If he said something untorwards then fair enough, but a straight red is over the top and Oliver lost his nerve.

It's frustrating for me as I've also been a Juve fan all my life and totally expect people on here to be one sided when it's Juve vs Spurs, but to see people carry forward the bitterness is disappointing. I genuinely wanted Spurs to go through, I've always been 60/40 towards Spurs in terms of my allegianeces and I really felt we needed and deserved it more. I really feel Spurs would've gave more against Real than Juve so that's a shame, but I guess that's football. Gutted to see both teams out but very proud of them both.
