I would love it if they get knocked out. I hope Villareal just let Napoli win.

As much as I try hard to support all the english teams in the Champions league, it takes a bit of pleasure with the amount of grief that I have had from shitty fans that they have a high probability of joining us on Thursday night football
Why?

The pundits apart from Zola tonight are so cocooned in the EPL that they really under estimated Napoli. The trio of Cavani, Lavezzi and Hamsik are a match for anyone. People like Souness and Adrian Durham mentioning Citeh in the same league as Barca with regards to winning the CL is laughable.

Unfortunately I only grabbed the last couple of minutes, I really like Napoli - they are a really tactically interesting team and Man City struggled against them last time out against an unusual (to them) 3 man defence.

I'm enjoying Man City's struggles for obvious reasons, but also because it makes our CL group win last season look even more impressive. They'll be with us in the Europa league soon hopefully.

Hope not. I'd quite like to win the thing.

Maybe some of the English clubs can learn something from Europe. The English press have built up Man City so much due to the millions they have spent and the obvious talent they have but they still have to play with 11 v 11. Most English sides are just rolling over when they turn up and aren't even trying to find a way to stop them, yet in the CL the teams they are playing aren't showing any fear of City because they are just another team in that competition.

I always felt the same about other teams in England like Liverpool and their reputation almost meant that teams would give up before they started despite them not being that special. It took a few defeats against lower teams for the whole league to realise they weren't that special and they went into free fall after all the teams started showing up against them.

Despite all that I expect City to beat Bayern at home and I think Napoli could struggle against Villareal. It would certainly throw a spanner in the works at City if they got knocked out of the CL.

Can't believe some people are worried about City dropping into Europa League!!!

I really don't think any of us would be concentrating on that if we are sitting in 3rd place still when knockout stages come round....

I hope Napoli win and City go out of CL, it will be great, I think if Mancini then failed to win the league, it'd be his time at the club over, let's hope us or United can push City out of top spot.

After reading their arrogant fans say they'll win the league, champions league and making fun of us being on "channel 5"

It'll be fun to see them crash out of the champions league and maybe United pip them to the title.

Never used to mind them but bluemoon is just way over the top with hatred of Spurs

UEFA Co-efficient is the main reason to support other English clubs in the CL , not that I like it but it's a fact of life if the Premiership is to remain with 4 CL slots

Don't worry. The premier league is just fine. It'll have 4 spots for a while.

If all 4 English teams don't make it through the group stage this year it will have an impact

The Premier League has a gap of round 24.000 points towards Seria A.

For this year PL already has around 9.600 points already made, so assuming all PL clubs are knocked out right now out of CL and EL, and all Italian teams manage to get into Semi-Finals and Finals, which would result in maybe 20.000 points? that would only close the gap to 10.000. In that scenario of course Germany and Spain wouldnt gain that much points as Italy will have to knock all their teams out as well, so the first to worry about that would be Germany as they are on 3rd place and closest to Italy.

All in all, if from now on all english teams lose all their games in CL and EL it would take at least 3 more seasons to lose the 4th CL place.

Ooft, nice knowledge. No idea if it's true, but it sounds good!

Strangely I think the EPL would be more interesting if we only had 3 teams qualifying every year for the CL.
