Welcome to the championship, Newcastle. 1-0 down against Fulham away, 20mins to go.

Was listening to Talkshit earlier and they were raving at how Toon will blow everyone away in the league and it was so nailed on it wasn't even funny that they'd easily run away with it etc., they went on for ages about it. lol

Anyway, nah.

Newcastle have really lost their coool.

Lots of kicking, and frustrations. Its like they expected to walk the league.

Fulham seem to have done really well out of the window as well, Ayite looking particularly exciting, and Malone like some really cleaver business.

Everyone has - foolishly - told them they should do.

it's beyond arrogance.

They're now bottom. :coffee:

Kinda bizarre goal difference situation at top of Championship.

1. Newcastle +21
2. Brighton +17

3. Reading +1
4. Leeds +3
5. Birmingham +2
6. Sheffield Wed +1

I guess it speaks of the top two teams not only winning, but crushing opponents that their rivals are only squeaking past.

Still, pretty striking disparity.

Because Newcastle are basically walking it
They were bottom at the time and took a while to get going. They didn't drop into the division and immediately start storming it like loads of folks thought/expected.

Also, it's only December. They may well maintain the points gap they have up there - and fair play to them if they do - and they may not.

I disagree, its a case of a great start making teams look better than they have actually been

Newcastle havent been crushing the league but a lot of matches have been close with the scoreline flattering newcastle as they often hit teams on the counter whilst the other goes all out attack

The championship imo is the opposite ultra competitive this season and that competition has got some teams caught out when going for the equaliser

Funny, have you seen them?

They had a good period where they won 8 games in a row but they were really close and they were lucky to win a few of those like the Norwich match

For example norwich were 7 points ahead of newcastle before their match, 2 stoppage time goals turned their match from a 3-2 loss to a 4-3 win. Now all of a sudden they went on a horrible run and were last week 13 points behind newcastle a month and half later

Not really followed them but I know Aston Villa were down near the bottom a while back, today they have gone twelfth only three points off the play offs.
Seems like Steve Bruce is doing a good job again wouldn't be surprised to see them back up again next season.

Would like to see Brighton go up. Get rid of one of those shitty northern clubs that takes an age to get to and replace them with a nice, pleasant trip down to the seaside.

Plus, Chrissy Hughton is a top bloke.

Birmingham sack Rowett and are gonna bring in Zola. Astonishing. We must never let Spurs be taken over by the Chinese. They're even worse than Yank owners, which is saying something. Utterly clueless and just like big names.

Craziest decision all season, he has transformed the club considering where they were

Reading win their game in hand and they are then only 3 points behind Newcastle. No way a given N'castle makes top 2; got beat by 'bottom 3' Blackburn today.

Amazing achievement for Chris Hughton to go top of the Championship last night, especially considering how strong Newcastle have been. Brighton now 9 points + unassailable GD ahead of 3rd. They've collapsed before in the second half of seasons, but that's a strong cushion and I for one will be cheering them & Hughton on all the way.

QPR keeper just saved a penalty in their game against Fulham to leave his record in QPR colours as follows:

Penalties faced: 10
Penalties scored by opposition: 4
Penalties saved: 6

Sign him up as a super-sub to bring on for Lloris in the 120th minute for all our knock-out competition games!
