Larry if you had your way we'd have an 88 man squad.

a player you could only ever see at west ham.. sort of tacky alternative they'd jump at and make a splash about with a full page ad in metro next to a plate of pie n mash.

imho another one season great in the realm of lambert, holt, that ginger bloke who played for reading but supported us and the bloke who went to celtic and came back to Norwich but was shite etc!

also thought he was uninsurable like remy and ba !

Embolo is, clearly, a major talent who could come in and score hundreds of goals for us. He'd also cost a lot of money and wants to go to the euros so will want to start. Austin has a proven record of scoring in england, would be cheap and would be happy playing second fiddle.

If the question is which one is the better prospect, Embolo wins, easily. If it is who is less of a risk, Austin wins. If it is who is the better player, right now, for the last 6 months of the season, you CANNOT say, 100%, it is Embolo. Given the price differential, I'd go for Austin.

Am sure you'll say "if you'd honestly rather Austin, I give up, you know nothing about football etc." but real football isn't on a computer screen. There are 100s of variables to take into account, short, medium and long term goals. For me, as I said about Vardy in the summer and had the same comments, Austin is a no risk punt who *could* work out spectacularly well.

Just my onions. Innit
If Embolo settled well in England, got up to speed with the Prem in a few years he might be capable of scoring 19 goals in the Prem. Austin already has and would cost less than half the price.

When will people stop with this proven goalscorer rubbish! Fernando Torres was a proven goalscorer as was Darren Bent, as was Louis Saha as was Andy Carroll after his one season at Newcastle and none of them worked out. We want young, hungry players with pace and energy and the potential to improve, who will run through brick walls to win games. Not overpaid journeyman with injury problems who are comfortable with being on the losing side every week. Experience is massively overrated in football, as ably demonstrated by Dele Alli.

I dont get this from Spurs, absolute no brainer from my viewpoint and fits what we need. Proven goal scorer, can hit ground running from january if Kane gets injured can be effective cover, cheap low wages, can play alome up front, what is the catch?

Why not nab him and one for the future? Does he want to be a first choice and play every week? That is the only reason I can think.

He is no world star or elite talent, but if Kane gets injured we need someone who can come in, replace him and bang in some goals.
only concern for me would be his lack of pace, otherwise he fits the bill and works bloody hard.

A while ago I read an article about Poch which said he turned down the chance to sign Austin on the final day when the Berahino deal fell through. I wonder if seeing the state of Kane in the last 15 mins on Sunday has changed his mind? He may not be a great player, but he's surely better than literally no back up at all.

He's already said he'd rather have no one than someone he doesn't feel fits in with his plans/philosophy.

But I bet anyone who fits his philosophy this January wouldn't fit Danny's philosophy ;)
