Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is doing all he can to end Tottenham's UEFA Cup dream.

The billionaire Russian is rolling out the red carpet for Spur's UEFA Cup opponents Spartak Moscow as they prepare for next week's clash.

Spartak arrive in London on Thursday and will prepare for the game at Chelsea's Cobham training complex.

And, knowing they are short of match practise as the Russian side goes into the fourth week of their winter close season, Abramovich has arranged for them to play Chelsea reserves on Saturday.

Spartak sources said: "Blood is thicker than water. Roman is helping the Russian team as much as he can. We will be very well prepared for this game."

Well, we haven't lost to a side which Roman's Rubles have been involved with for over 18 months. So fuck him, Spartak will be getting the runaround.
  2. Bilko
The Russian should go back to where his allegiances are-this sort of thing makes me sick.

Well, they'll need one hell of a performance to eliminate us at this stage

chelsea reserves ? what good is that gonna do them ? They`d be better off watching Pava stick it to ManU on Saturday. Then they`d learn something.
  5. donk

Yeah, we'd prob be better to lose it anyway and come 3rd...save us from champ league teams! Play the ressies

If he had the ref over for dinner, then I'd be worried. This is a non-story!

So while we will playing Man Utd ahead of the UEFA Cup game, Moscow will be playing Chelsea reserves. Oh no :eek:mg:

    Easy Bilko.
he has every right to live/ work here and keep strong allegiances to his homeland!!!
And the fact this makes you sick - prolly says a lot about you !!!!!
  9. Geez
I haven't made any comment about this non-event of a story

Sorry Geez - let me re-phrase to 'Easy Geezer' (hopefully no SC members called Geezer). Or re-phrase to 'Easy Bilko' just to avoid confusion.

I thought CSKA was his team. Was'nt he in some trouble with uefa over the rule that you can't have ownership interest in two clubs at the same time or something like that? Why help your local rivals Roman?

what the scenario have to be for us to end up 4th in this group or are we safe?
  13. Garm
    Not safe:

    2. Tottenham 6 points 5-2
    3. NEC 3 points 4-5
    4. Moscow 3 points 3-4

NEC win with 2 goals, and we lose with 2 or more we can end up 4th.

    cheers

If we lose by 0-2 or more at home to Spartak, then we don't deserve to be in the competition. Simple as...

You would like to think that we have the squad and the collective will to fight at least for a draw. But then Spurs always were a Jekyl & Hyde team.

Questions is maybe, what would you rather have, a win vs Man Utd but a defeat against Spartak that puts us out of UEFA, or vice versa?

    Tricky

Thanks Mail, another article that wasn't a waste of time reading.

Though you have to give it to them in translating Russian into an English proverb.

Luckily we don't have that dilemma - so we can just beat them both..
