Based on JJ's wink and the fact that Poch came out and named him, I think this is happening.

He's the perfect signing for us.

  • Played under Bielsa (and recommended to Poch by him, by all accounts) so will fit how we play perfectly.
  • Belgian, too, so should settle quickly.
  • Young.
  • Flexible playing in most of the front 4 positions.
  • Scores goals

He is clearly a serious talent. This would be a great start to the summer.

Poch calling him Michy rather than using the surname definitely makes it sound like they've had a few conversations.

2 counter arguments though:

1) He's a little on the short side for a lone CF

2) He's had a horrendous season, is unfit, unmotivated and got dropped for Steven Fletcher. He'll need a good 6 months of Poch boot camp to get up-to-speed.

But...but...but...the video that was posted clearly says "Welcome to West Ham Utd."

I think you should all be aware by now that some random youtuber is a better source of information than either a guy who's given us years of quality ITK or our own manager.

I'm afraid we're just going to have to get used to the fact that there's no way we can compete for quality players with the "Champions of London".

1) Could say the same about Aguero but he's strong and tenacious. So is Michy.

2) If 17 goals in 36 appearances is a horrendous season then I guess you're after Luis Suarez or someone like that. 6 months of boot camp is also a preposterous suggestion.

You're spouting absolute bollocks. He was the 4th top scorer in Ligue 1 in an average team, scoring 22 goals in all competitions. You have no evidence to suggest he is unfit, in fact, he's only not played 90 minutes in a match in 8 out of 36 league matches, completing the 90 minutes in 8 out of the last 10 matches. Furthermore, Batshuayi was dropped for Fletcher for just 2 matches, infuriating the fans who hated the manager. Said manager subsequently got sacked because he was so shite.

So please, stick to commenting on things you actually know about.

Marseille face PSG in the Coupe de France Final on Saturday. Should be a good chance to see Batshuayi in action.

This is just a really strange comment. Like, really strange.

Not been keeping up with transfer shite. When did Poch mention him, and in what context?

He's just short of 6 foot. As in half an inch.
He also scored 17 and assisted 9 in 36. He's directly responsible for 26 goals in 36 games.
He also has 4 goals in 7 europa appearances this season.

Your comment is ridiculous

If West Ham's attempts to sign Lacazette are indeed dead (see Lacazette thread), then they'll probably next try and sign Batshuayi. Imagine the scenes if they do all the negotiating and we Willian them.

Unfortunately, I think if they throw money at Marseille they will get him. We don't tend to go balls out for players and I think that's what might be needed in this case.

Based on JJ's hints, the comments from Stobart and the other guys on here who have given ITK, I wouldn't be surprised if his heart is set on us and we've already agreed a fee (verbally at least).

I hope you're right. I think he's just what we need.
