I just don’t see how not being happy at 1-0 down translates to people having to call you out later in the game if we turn it around.

It’s the match thread, surely if anyone is going to moan and be driven by what’s happening at the moment it’s in the match thread? Why does it need people telling others off like they’re naughty schoolchildren?
Oh ffs... every time you bring out this argument and every time you conveniently ignore the fact that it’s not the emotion that’s the problem it’s the lack of any semblance of faith.

Which is, of course, another word for support.

Now we can all be morose and fatalistic and that’s part of being a Spurs fan BUT if you give up on the team just because we concede then you aren’t really a Spurs fan because you’ve clearly not bothered to watch this side for the last 3 years.

Similarly if you call Dele a lazy useless **** who should be sold then you don’t really get to share in the joy of his two goals do you?

It’s really not that hard to express your instant match day frustration without completely shitting on either the entire club or indivisual players like they’re utter scum.

That’s the difference. And it’s not a hard one to spot.

Edit: I drunkenly replied to a post of @Bobbins when I meant to reply to someone else who I can’t even remember. Anyway the sentiment remains the same but @Bobbins certainly isn’t a serial moaner with a thin skin while I am definitely a poor user of smart phones when 6 pints in. COYS!

Or you could just let all our stupid match day shit get the reposts they merit, as they always do, from other posters? When someone panics because we concede a goal, calls everything doomed, or calls a good performance a shit one, they generally get what's coming.

I don't understand why the people that don't ever panic, don't ever see anything wrong, don't want to see bad in any of our players can't just ignore what other posters say, and just post their happy evangelical shit, or just come back at them with their alternate opinion. What do they expect from people on a football forum and a match thread?

I would consider myself one of those that rarely panics. Usually the reason I go to the match thread is because I am not able to watch the match and so I like to see posts from people like yourself or @mpickard2087 . I may not agree with what you say, but your arguments are at least backed up with some sort of room for discussion or debate. When you have to wade through pages of;

"xxxxx is shit"
"sell xxxxxx"
"game over"
"fuck this shit we never turn up in these games"
"spurs letting us down as usual"

to get to anything thats actually informative, it gets as tiresome as reading the type of comments I have been making for a few matches.

I think ill just take my own advice and avoid the match thread like the plague from now on and stick to the after match threads like the ratings one, where there tends to be a more interesting discussion.

Not all. Some people are sick and tired of coming onto the match day thread to see comments such as;

"legends, again!"
"Alli is a waste of space"
"Dier needs to be subbed"
Etc etc.

After only 20 mins or so....

It's so tiring and boring wallowing in negativity especially when there is so much to be positive about and this current team has overturned bad situations many many times.

I said it after the Bournemouth game but it spoils the match day experience in here for those who can't go to the game and it's equal to sitting next to an idiot at the game who only becomes vocal in negativity, never in positivity. That's the crux of the issue here. Constructive criticism is completely warranted and we are all entitled to voice our opinion but I think there is a line on what is said.

It's the same people every time and the funny thing is they ARE STILL YET TO LEARN in not writing this team off.

If someone thinks we're automatically going to lose because we go 1-0 down then that's their problem/opinion. People post in match threads as if they were at the game, posting what would otherwise just come out of their mouths, that's always been the case. It might be annoying, but it's not just the reactionary posts like your examples that get swept up by the hindsight brigade.

If it's always the same people, you can always put them on ignore anyway.

This is supposed to be a forum for peoples opinion on our team. Now if people cant handle others negativity then im sure the moderators must be able to invent some sort of rules which can stifle said negativity.
Let the moaners moan and just ignore it i say?

You know whats even better about being 8 points clear of Chelsea?

Chelsea are still 5 points clear of Arsenal - despite losing 5 of the last 7 PL matches....

What a game... The Eriksen equalizer was sublime.

And Dele's performance in the face of adversity and all the doubters - magnificent!!

I love you Spurs!

Agreed but @yankspurs must come out and admit that his comments were over the top but I guess spur of the moment cos we were really shit 1st half

In the heat of the moment during the game it’s easy to say some over the top silly stuff (I try not to post too much during the game now days).
So a well as posters on here posting knee jerk comments, people should not be so sensitive to react to them

“Every time” - I’ve literally made comments about this in two of the last four match threads and previous to that hardly ever mentioned it.

I’m not up for a shooting match or argument with anyone and the rest of the post has nothing to do with anything I’ve said so I’ll just leave it at that.

not sure about forum etiquette, but I know one thing for sure. When at a game, the single most depressing thing isn't losing it's a moany crowd. I've been at games where we are getting pumped but the atmosphere has been magnificent. Went home happier on some of those occasions than a narrow win in which the crowd was full of angry moaners slagging off our players. Odd but true. I know it's different to a forum but still reminds me of those days I've regretted paying all that money and showing up due to the toxicity among our fanbase sometimes.

Having said that its always that way for bigger clubs and I remember reading players from the 60s talk about the boos they would get if they weren't playing well. So it's just football I guess.

Fair points but there are some who seem to have their repetive negative posts written before the match starts and just post them when we go a goal down etc.

my next door neighbours decided to have a birthday party for their daughter and by the looks of it invited half the street, felt kinda embarrassed when I just went out the back for a cheeky smoke as they all just stared at me, cant think why :wtf:

They couldn't believe how small it was

Good idea. I normally do because I'm watching the game.

Today I thought we got a bit lucky with the timing of the goals. It was like playing Palace away but Conte used his wing backs like he always does against us. Poch hasn't learned from that but as I said we dominated like a home team and got the goals.

Buzzing!

I started writing a big post to say that and you said it in one line!
Can always take them off again after the match.

You know what would change the entire dynamic of the match day threads - if the Mods used the autocorrect and/or language filter a bit more creatively.

Imagine if you type: "FFS Dele" and it comes out as "I love the way Dele plays"

Or, "Dier Sucks" becomes "I agree with BC, Dier really is the most important player on the pitch."

I think it would make the thread a lot more entertaining....

Hugo Lloris has made the third most errors leading to a goal in the Premier League this season with four errors.

If he stays at home for that cross he doesn't necessarily save it anyway. Yes if he comes he has to get something on the ball, but the ball was guided right into the corner from 3 yards. I wouldn't call it a mistake like spilling the ball into an attackers path or having a shot go through your hands.

That would make for some epic comedy posts :ROFLMAO:
