I think it would be easier to take if we were simply outclassed but there always seems to be an individual error, or a harsh sending off and penalty for us to deal with.

I quite like Tim but we have a poorer manager and players than we did have three years ago. The people that run the club are largely responsible for this and so my anger and frustration from games like yesterday always filters down to laying the blame at their door.

I can see the better quality players leaving this summer . It's going to take a long time to get back to where we want to be . To many players brought in without premiership experience . I think the team needs rebuilding. Can see Lloris , Vertonghen , Dembele all leaving this summer which leaves us with a lot of average players .

Players leaving is becoming something we as supporters are just going to have to live with......the way we replace them, especially the way we spent the £100M, is the big issue. Who is going to be held to account for the way we wasted that money...Baldini....LEVY? If this was in any other Business the man at the very top would be under pressure to go, so why not Spurs?

8 managers in 10 years, sold some of the best players in the world for hefty profits that haven't benefited the team and brought in too many midfielders with the sole intention of making a profit it would seem. Maybe that's unfair to say, but I think there are too many people with too many fingers in the pie who haven't got a strong footballing background. Let the manager manage. Buy the players that the manager wants and the team needs. Too many managers have been sacked for not delivering unrealistic expectations. Levy is a magnificent businessman but I think he interferes too much with the game itself. If this all ends being laid at Sherwood's door then, I, for one, will be furious.

Hmm I was at a wedding yesterday, sat next to a Chelsea fan, following the game through text updates. Fun. Not sure I can bring myself to watch the "highlights"

Have just seen the Sherwood interview though. Out of context, I think he comes across like a petulant teenager myself, all that shrugging, pulling faces and barely audible grumbles. Less leader of men, more Kevin & Perry

But that said, I can understand why those hurting from having to watch that game could think it a good thing, venting the frustrations of the fans at yet another capitulation. Whether it will help is another matter

What I don't get with all this is AVB got castigated for the thumpings for being clueless tactically but Sherwood is exonerated for whining about the same players in public. Would AVB have got more sympathy if he had whined the same way, instead of accepting responsibility for the defeats?

Watched motd and saw a couple of our players playing suicidal balls back into our area, eto cheated to get a pen (double bubble Kaboul got sent off). If that had of been Suarez or Bale back page headlines created. That's three goals and a man down just there. Not managers fault if players are brainless, that was unforgivable today and if lloris was schmicial he'd run out and absolutely call out JV and KW.

I don't like any of it, castigating AVB, Sherwood whining in public. Seems like a club without any kind of respect for its manager, but is that so hard to believe, when they don't get to keep one for long enough to make a difference. Liverpool were in the same position as us last year but they stuck behind Rogers and now they're seeing results.

Totally agree with you . We should have brought in players with Prem experience

Broadly speaking, we shouldn't make do anywhere. But our main problem now is to remove the lingering stench of AVBs caution and neglect of attacking by overhauling our offense. One reason for defensive pressure and lapses is that we are bloody hopeless as an attacking force these days, so no matter how much possession we have, we barely create a chance, let alone score. So our opponents carry all the threat, even with less possession, and wave after wave of decent attack comes at us, while wave after wave of ponderous possession is all we offer.

Your solution sounds like a Big Sam solution - just defend better and hope to grind out 0-0 or 1-0 wins. And obviously that beats 4 goal tonkings. But it is too limited for us. We need to return to an incisive game plan whereby we have a purpose to our possession and we take the pressure off the defence by trying to bloody win games and not just survive them.

Fair point. It is of course a team issue too. But no, my ideas are far from Allardyce's. I want zippy attacking creative players too. it's not an either/or!

Sherwood : 'The people upstairs expect top four, (shrugs) I mean wake up'.

This is exactly the feeling of so many Spurs fans. We have been trying to get the opportunity to say this to our hierarchy ourselves for so long. Tim had the balls to say it himself on our behalf and he went public. Now who of us would want to condemn him for doing it ?

He might have to pay a hefty price for it. We have to applaud him and we also need to thank him for sticking up for us faithful and long time suffering fans. I for one, will always do.

Tim, you're the man, thanks.

Martin Jol said something similar once and was sacked within weeks.

Without a big backer and monster stadium, we are not that competitive.
All we can do is hang around 5th place and pick up any scraps if a big 4 club has a crisis.
It is unfortunate that liverpool have seemingly snapped up the current vacancy left by manu.

But a key difference is that they kept Suarez and we sold Bale. I want to know a little more about that disparity. Both players were under contract. How much was this Levy pulling the trigger? What would have happened if we had refused Bale's request? I guess we won't know (till Bale's biography comes out). I know we are we are. But this rankles.... perhaps Suarez was in a less powerful position, given his ban.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/kaboul-left-feeling-blue-090314/?

Younes offered an honest assessment. “When you look at the game, if someone watched the first half and didn’t watch the rest, then saw the scoreline of 4-0, they would ask ‘what happened?’” he said.

“The thing I’m upset about is that we fell apart after 2-0.

“I thought we started the game very well, the first half was good, we played some good football and could have scored with Nabil and Sandro.

“We started the second half well as well but then we made a mistake, okay, then the second goal. For me, it wasn’t a penalty.

“After that, we fell apart really and it’s not good enough for the club. We have to do much better than that, even if there are consequences in the game that go against us.

“We should have a better reaction.”

I don't think you can make a comparison here. Liverpool were being offered £42 million and to sell to a rival in the premiership. We were being offered twice as much and from Real Madrid. Reverse the situation and there is no way Liverpool could have kept Suarez from going to RM for £85 million. And we would never have sold Bale to a rival for £42 million.

If Barcelona or RM come knocking for Suarez in the summer he'll be gone.

Sherwood is a dead man walking after that interview last night. But I respect him for saying what he said about the boys upstairs dreaming of top 4. Levy will call him maybe next week after the arsenal game which I don't think we will win and tell him it's over in the summer. One think I really hate is levy will never take the blame, 8 managers in 10 years. If we want too move forward as a club the levy and co need too sell up and we get a suger daddy in or we will never be in the top 4.

No difference. You bollock players in private, public humilation is a very specific tool used in a tiny amount of situations.

If I look at the bigger picture, the result and top 4 is immaterial.

ENIC are, in my opinion, playing a master-stroke; nice new stadium, huge naming rights AND a huge chunk of land bought for tuppence to be sold off to a developer to regenerate the area.

I may, of course, be totally wrong.
