Cheltenham Festival Competition. 2010.

The 2010 SC Cheltenham Festival Champion Tipster Competition.

The competition starts on Tuesday 16th March and ends Friday 19th March 2010.
All you have to do is to Select a horse in every race over the 4 day festival.
And your selections for the day should be on here no later than 1:00pm.

Non runners: If your selection is a non runner then you will be on the favorite at 1/2 the points.
Dead heats: 1/2 the points.


1st. = 10 points
2nd. = 6 points
3rd. = 4 points
4th. = 2 points


Races with 4 or less runners win only.
Races with 5-6-7 runners, 1st & 2nd only.
Races with 8 -15 runners 1st 2nd 3rd only.
Races with 16+ handicaps 1st 2nd 3rd 4th.
(Or, in other words, whatever Will Hill are settling on, so are we!)

Who ever has the most points at the end of the Festival is the winner!
Prizes for this competition are, the winner will get 1000v and the runner up 500v.

Once your selections have been submitted, you cannot change them, unless, in the case of Non Runners!

I will be offering odds on certain races at the festival, in particular, all of the showcase races. :grin:


Bear in mind that you must join this comp at the beginning, (first days racing), otherwise you will be playing catch-up for the rest of the comp!

Can't wait for Cheltenham even 'though I can't get there this year (only glorious Goodwood gets close for jumps meetings i've been)

As per usual, the results running up to the festival is throwing up more questions than answers... fancys like Denman, Zaynar, Binocular etc have disapointed while others have produced putting them in the frame. Coupled with trying to find the usual Irish hot-pots & it looks like another great meeting coming up.

Zaynar being beaten yesterday by a 12/1 shot....which i had a measly £2 on...was the shock of the season so far, according to the commentators!
But!...Zaynar was using that race to get ready for Cheltenham and we shouldnt take it too literally.

I know NH has made excuses for Zaynars defeat but for me personally never thought he'd get up the hill prior to getting turned over.

Now all i've got to do is work out who will win it.

9 out of last 10 are aged between 6 & 9.
8 have won last race.
7 are aged either 7 or 8.
6 are trained in Eire.
6 had Racing Post Ratings of 170+.
4 were won by fav or Joint fav.
3 won at Leopardstown last time out. (AIG Champion Hurdle).
3 ran at Wincanton last time out. (Kingwell Hurdle).
2 had won the race in the previous year. (Hardy Eustace and Istabraq.)

Fact is...we will have to put our heads together and come up with realistic options, sometimes you can work out winners by elimination, but that can prove costly if the winner is on the eliminated list because "No one from the newspapers fancies it"..!

Another pointer for the Champion Hurdle tommorow @ Kempton where last years winner Punjabi runs (probably @ about 1-8) after Wincanton was cancelled last weekend.

Not sure it will tell us much if he wins well tommorow, but would be telling if he performs below par.
