French international defender Pascal Chimbonda is in talks with Tottenham over extending his contract.

The 28-year-old Chimbonda, who has won one French cap, arrived at White Hart Lane from Wigan in August 2006.

"We're in talks over a new deal," said Chimbonda's agent Willie McKay. "I've spoken to Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli about an extension.

"Talks are going well and we're waiting until after the next match to try and conclude things," added McKay.

Full-back Chimbonda joined Wigan for £500,000 in the summer of 2005 from French club Bastia.

Chimbonda was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer before the FA Cup holders signed Brazilian full-back Juliano Belletti.

Meanwhile, property tycoon Paul Kemsley is expected to leave his post as Spurs vice-chairman on Wednesday to concentrate on his other business interests, particularly in America.

Spurs are due to announce their financial results on Wednesday.

Kemsley was reported to be in the Spurs party that met Sevilla coach Juande Ramos in August, a meeting that threw manager Martin Jol's future into doubt.

SUPERB. Some COMPLETE MORONS around here knock him. He's quality.

Yeah how dare they. Never mind that he has made as many errors as Robbo this season, only bothers tracking back when he feels like it, consistently loses his man defensively (in the air) - and isn´t impartial to the odd bit of diving.

2nd hald of last season he was worse than anything Stalteri ever offered up.

No but why don´t you lot keep chucking in words like "awesome".

just wanna make clear that I wasn´t having a dig at you.

But if (and that is a big if) Chelsea were genuinely offering 10 mill + SWP or anything similar I´d have bitten their arm off.

I would like him to sign a new contract but I don't think he deserves one at the moment. If he is offered a new contract he would automatically assume he is playing well which he isn't

A settled back four that play together for years would be of great benefit to us. There has been way too much chopping and changing at the back in the last few years and we need to build a strong unit. Getting Chimbonda signed up is a good sign.

Would be happy to see Chimbonda sign a new deal - has been a bit accident prone this season but feel his class is a permanent thing!

As Dougal said we need a settled back-line (preferably with King in it! )

Chimonda Dawson King Lee

Bale on the left of midfield please and Kaboul possibly instead of Dawson although I like the Dawson / King combo!

Totally agree. Why on earth are we rewarding a player with a new contract when he is playing as badly as he is. He has been at fault for 3 crucial goals this year due to his casual approach.

Im not a fan, attitude is shocking.

I rate him higher than our previous encumbants - including Carr and Stalteri. Kelly may have gone on to become established but still not the same quality. And playing the likes of Lee, Jenas, Paramot there is / was just sheer folly.

Other than Richards and 'Ratboy' Neville, I can't think of any better right backs in the prem..................
