He'll be a massive success here, finally we will have replaced the guile of Modric but with a player who gets forward more and scores and assists more.

Not sure where Dembele will fit in anymore though
Thought exactly the same. He seems to be more of a goal threat and better final ball than Dembele, can see Moussa getting less game time especially with the other new guys plus Sandro in midfield.

I think Dembele has ongoing muscle injury issues also, why else replace him around 60 mins in every game

So, Ajax's boss has confirmed Eriksen is coming to us.
Roma's boss has confirmed Lamela is coming to us.
Steau's boss has confirmed Chiriches is coming to us.
What chances then Bale gets announced after these have medicals today. Introduced at tonight's game maybe? Triple whammy of signings to soften the blow of Bale going. (Oh, and the small matter of him breaking the transfer record may help)...

I think he needs an op. apparently they are trying to "manage the injury". But agree Eriksen would fit it perfectly into our system and be a huge success.

Please let this one be done and completed quickly. Now that other clubs know Ajax have allowed him to talk to us and if the rumours of a fee being agreed are true they also know how much roughly it will take for Ajax to accept (or even other clubs could try to out bid us).

Anyway a player who can pass the ball around and join up play is something I think we will need. I think we have missed the cultured midfield playmaker type of player over the last year.

Also having someone who can take direct free kicks and the odd corner could prove very useful.

I know some people online have mentioned he hasn't got raw pace but he isn't exactly slow and if we get Lamela we have plenty of pacey players in the team.

I also think he will settle in very quickly as his English is pretty fluent going by interviews he has done in the past (just hope he thinks Spurs are a big club for his long term ambitions) and having spent the last couple of years in Amsterdam he should be OK to adapt to London.

Not sure I agree about Dembele. Having him, Small Paul and either Capoue or Sandro in the middle gives us such a fantastic platform.

I can definitely see situations (assuming it all goes through) where we go for those three in the middle (allowing Dembele and Paul to periodically bomb forward, making it very difficult to know which one to pick up) with Lamela and Eriksen floating behind Soldado.

In the really big games that would be a very difficult side to play against

More quotes from De Boer (below). Could maybe see Siggy go there on loan?

De Boer doesn't know if Ajax will reconsider their goals for this season now Eriksen is close to leaving. He says it depends on the replacement he is able to recruit.

"It depends on which player we can buy or take over on loan. Not from the level from Eriksen, but close to it."

Its really refreshing that we have such a dynamic midfield now. Hope this Eriksen kid is as good as everyone says.

My only query is how could we get him so cheaply. Surely at €12m or even £12m, so many clubs should have massively been in for him. Also surely Ajax could have got more for him.

I understand his contract is winding down but still it doesn't make sense for a player so highly rated.

All the top clubs have their quotas filled for attacking midfielders so there's no point other clubs stockpiling (unless you're Chavski) Also as you said his contract runs out next year and he wants garanteed first team football.

This is the steal of the century, if we pull this off we will be laughing all the way to Seven Sisters.

Really interesting and that could work out for everyone but I don't think Siggy is at the point in his career where a loan move is viable (at his age I'd imagine he would want to settle and play regularly at a club) and we might have to sell him to Ajax.

But a transfer could also be OK as we are not selling to a direct rival in the Premier League, Ajax get an attacking midfielder playing in a league geared up for attacking, we get some money in (doubt it would be much but goes towards other things) and Siggy would most likely get more games at Ajax (plus he would play in this seasons Champions League).

Would happily loan them, siggy and/or carroll, Ajax are briliant and nuturing talent, giving them game time and big game experience!

Said a while ago that i'd love to give them Carroll for a season. He'd come back a much better player.

When will we have time to offload all these players? BAE, Sig, Ade, etc? I reckon at least 2 of them will stay.

Seems Levy will have no signings to make this transfer deadline day, he'll need something to do on his favourite day of the year.

I really like Sig and Holtby and Townsend. Hope they get a chance. If we sign erikson it means even one of our big hitters like dembele will find it hard to get on.
