I struggle to watch any interviews because they are so bad. I think it is something we really need to sort out along with better coverage of the under 21s.

At 2.14 he coughed, is he going to be ok? Oh no he's a sicknote, can't believe it, we have no full backs, Chadli is already shit and now Eriksen is Anderton mark II, this season has been a disaster, lucky if we don't get relegated. ;)

To be fair, if he's coughing in a studio, in England then he's a bit of a pussy. How is he going to fare on a cold, wet night in Stoke?

The training pictures from yesterday showed Soldado wearing long jogging bottoms whilst everybody else wore shorts. Poor thing won't know what's hit him when it hits December and he's still expected to play!

On topic: Eriksen has GIANT ANIME EYES. What's up with those?

Andre Villas-Boas believes Christian Eriksen has the potential to become Tottenham’s Wesley Sneijder.

The Spurs boss has also likened the Danish playmaker to another former Ajax star, Rafael van der Vaart, who helped Tottenham to the quarter-finals of the Champions League during the 2010-11 season.

Versatile Eriksen, an £11.5million signing two weeks ago, has impressed in Denmark’s two World Cup qualifying wins over the past week, away to Malta and Armenia.

The 21-year-old is now “a big possibility” to start today’s first home game of Tottenham’s season against Norwich.

And Villas-Boas is excited at the prospect of Eriksen reaching the heights of Sneijder - who has won titles in Holland, Spain, Turkey and Italy, where he claimed the Treble - and Van der Vaart.

AVB said: “The expectancy is these players will become world stars.

“I think what happened with Christian is a bit like that happened with Sneijder and Van Der Vaart when they were at Ajax.

“They reach a moment in their career where they become extremely important for their team and the club who goes and gets them does a great transfer move.

“We expect great things of Christian Eriksen and we want to develop him into becoming that sort of important player for us as well.

Villas-Boas’s comments echo those of former Spurs boss Martin Jol, who raved about Eriksen’s ability during his time in charge of Ajax three years ago.

Jol, now in charge of Fulham, said then: “I have to be very wrong if this player will not become a good, very good or a top player.”

A year later Jol said: “AC Milan were not interested in Jari Litmanen, Dennis Bergkamp, Wesley Sneijder or Rafael van der Vaart when they were 17 years old. They are in Eriksen.”

Potential wise this could be interesting yes, Eriksen has lots of talent. But I think he needs a lot of training before he'll get a spot in the starting XI. At the moment he isn't a direct improvement.

That was me a while ago.

(And normally I hate being wrong, this time I don't)

Ye, I know he only played two games but still!

He's been the standout so far of all our new signings - hit the ground running and taken no time to settle, plus he's added qualitites to the squad we've been sorely missing for some time.

Great signing and if the other new additons can grow and make similarly positive contributions once they bed in we'll be thinking "Bale who?" this time next year

Or in true Tottenham fan style we'll finish 2nd and we'll be saying we'd have won the league if we'd kept Bale and Modric...

His ability to jump right into the side and instantly be the key cog in the machine is just a sign of the quality and potential he has. His issue for Ajax has been consistency throughout matches and so far he's showing an exuberant approach. I mentioned before he might have become complacent in the Eredivisie because it did get a bit "too easy" for him. I don't think we have to worry about that seeing as how we play in probably the toughest league in all of football.

Young Dane has made it known to the Gunners and their arch-rivals Spurs that he plans to stay for another season at the Dutch club to continue enjoying regular first-team football

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Christian Eriksen insists that he still has some way to go before being ready to command a regular starting berth in the Premier League.

Only recently, the young playmaker exclusively told Goal.com that his current playing style would be better suited to a team in La Liga than an English top-flight club.

But the talented Dane has now made it known that he intends to remain with his current side in Amsterdam for another season to continue his development in the first-team, instead of making a move and potentially finding it difficult to play regularly.

"I know all about Tottenham. They have great players like Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric," Eriksen told The News of the World.

"They are a very nice team and play very well. And of course I know all about Arsenal too. They play beautiful football.

"But I know I'm not ready for the next stage yet. That's why I am staying here to learn. I have the quality to play at Ajax and the biggest thing for me now is to be playing.

"I wouldn't want to go somewhere else now just to sit on the bench. That would be a step back and I don't want that for my career."

The 19-year-old is, however, leaving things open-ended as he has not ruled out a move to the Premier League next summer.

Eriksen added: "For now I am focusing on Ajax. I have a contract until 2014 and I'm very happy there.

"But I don't think I will stay until the end of that. I hope I move a bit quicker.

"But right now, and the next season for sure, I will be at Ajax."

Sorry to bring back an oldish thread but I'm just still slightly bemused that Eriksen is still only 21. The way he's come in and had such an impact for me is a sign of his quality. I expect big things from him, not right away but in the future for sure. The sky is the limit for him, hopefully he'll be able to add real consistency to his game and fulfill his potential.

Eriksen is 21, Lamela is 21, Townsend is 22, Rose is 22, Holtby is 23, Walker is 23 - looks like we are building for the future here and a team that can be together for 7- 10 years
