The last time Spurs were in the Champions League Rafael van der Vaart was a driving force in the side’s attack – the Dane can be just as good and better.

Surely that's just a fans blog rather than news?

You're not wrong there. Hardly news, but an interesting parallel - albeit not a new one either. Eriksen is his own player though. Not as strong and aggressive as VdV, and with only a shade of his ego. Like Luka he is learning his PL trade from the wing although his best position is obviously in the No.10 role when he/we are ready. It will be really interesting to see how the new manager will use CE. I believe the team should be built around him for the next couple of seasons even though he may not be a world class player (yet).

His got more finese than vdv, if spurs are to become succesful, allbeit a regular 5th place side or a CL challenger, this boy is pivotal. His got much to learn that's true, but let's be honest, his potential is bordering on legend.

Totally agree, yet to see him impose himself on a game the way Rafa could. Saw him play like a veritable 'man possessed' on occasion (Antwerp, if i remember, in the CL at home when he got sent off) and doubt that i will ever see that kind of performance from any of the current Spurs players. Not that i dont like CE, just think hes a different type of player to VDV.

He probably won't kiss any granny's or be the character that Van der Vaart was.

But I think he looks almost as talented and more athletic.

At this moment in time, I think he hasn't reached the level VDV had in his prime. However Eriksen is still so young and would surely improve particularly in the killer instinct and be more ruthless in his approach.
