I still think he should play centrally just behind the forward(s). He really does shine in a way that reminds me of Modric, but in my opinion has more potential. A proven game changer that should really start every game.

“I enjoy the responsibility. I am a player who loves to have the ball."

But you don't like to fight for it.

Let's get physical, Christian.

Figuratively speaking of course....

I think at the start Poch wanted Lamela to be our focal point, and was trying to get everything to go through him and was using him the middle. The problem with that however is that Lamela blows hot and cold too much and can't be relied on as our main creative influence. He's a sporadic player, who'll lose the ball a lot, but still retains the ability to produce a bit of magic.

Eriksen on the other hand, though not amazing every game, can be relied on to perform more consistently and look after the ball better. I think Poch is starting to learn that, and hopefully from now on Eriksen will be the focal point of our team and Lamela will be left to more advanced positions where he can try more extravagant things and no have so much weight on his shoulders. Eriksen has been used to having most the play go through him at Ajax and I think it would benefit us more to make him as comfortable as possible within the team.

Hoddle didn't fight for it much either.......bugger knows what happened to that chap............
Hoddle vs eriksen. No contest. Hoddle didnt need to fight for it. His other qualities far outshone other players that you did not care if he fought for it or not. Dont compare the 2.

At Ajax, he was the guy who initiated the press, apparently. And against Arsenal he pressed and tackled to great effect for our goal. I think he knows when to get physical and when it would just be a headless chicken exercise. We have enough of those, so I hope we develop around him because he's clearly got the goods.

He really did look good playing a little deeper. Has the ability to pick a pass and play forwards. Its a shame him and mason are so light weight as they would produce some excellent football. With Kane and Soldado starting I would push Kane or Soldado out wide and play more of a 4-3-3 type with Eriksen free to move up and down.

We don't know what Poch makes of any of our attacking players. It would seem he has faith in Kane and Chadli, but I think he might move the rest of them on over the next couple of transfer windows.

Put him in the hook role and let him express himself. Don't restrict him with systems. One of the few things Sherwood got right.
