Probably wasting his career with us, drifts in and out of games through boredom or poor quality of the rest....we need to step up or he will fuck off soon.

Those numbers don't even take into consideration his numerous assists in that same timeframe. I believe he scored his first goal for us late December 2013. So in the last 11.5 months, he's chipped in 13 goals, and I believe 7 assists. Those are phenomenal numbers for a 21/22 year old midfielder in the toughest league in the world, surrounded by other players with limited end product.

People talk about the alleged lost value of our investment of the Bale money, but Eriksen is easily worth 30 million pounds in the current transfer market. He might even be worth closer to 40 million pounds. Eriksen, Vertonghen and Lloris are the core of our squad. They shouldn't be sold under any circumstances.

I'm having a long running argument with my housemate who's Chelsea over Eriksen and Willian. Am I being biased in thinking Eriksen is better?

Eriksen is much more consistent but he does have a more visible job.
Willian is just a bit part player in a very good team, not his fault.
Prefer Christian....

They're both totally different players though, Eriksen has a far better end product and scores and assists whilst Willian offers you more energy and tracks runners so it's difficult too compare.

Do you reckon? I can see the point that he is overshadowed by Hazard and Fabregas in terms of not being the fulcrum of creativity but he's not a defensive player, if he were that good he would be contributing a lot more. He's better at tracking players and doing a defined job for the team, but as in who's the better technical footballer surely you can compare them both as attacking midfielders? It's not as if I am comparing him to Matic or Mikel.

I've been quite critical of him to be honest but these last few weeks I think he's shown his importance to us. Even though I would like for him to have more influence in our games I'm not sure he ever will to be honest, but if we can regularly get him in the right positions on the pitch he will get a lot of assists and goals for us.

He changed his technique on his corners/freekicks a bit yesterday too, he was clipping the balls in as opposed to whipping them. I think he can get more balls in the right area like that and we should have big enough players to take advantage.

He is a defensive player, his stats back that up, it's a reason as to why Mourinho got rid of Mata (who is in the same mould as Eriksen incidentally) and why Willian is in the first team and starts more or less every match. If you watch him he works tirelessly, he never shirks his responsibilities and always covers his full back and he never stops running. Eriksen is a better techincal footballer no doubt but in terms of defensive responsibilities he isn't in the same league as Willian, he's just not built like that.

Having said that we are seeing some good signs from Eriksen, against Everton for example he worked, pressed and ran like I've never seen him work before and if he continues that he'll go up another level

Fair enough, when I have seen him he does seem to play forward but maybe the better comparison would be someone like Kuyt. I am glad we didn't pay that amount of money for him then, and got a great deal with Eriksen.

Agree with this. I think people think he's better than he is but his recent form has been impressive. My main criticism was that he went missing far too often in games at the start of the season but that was generally overlooked. I do cringe when I see Spurs fans claiming he's the new Bale though.

Christian Bale maybe.

Anyone remember the ball he played to Rose last night who then created a chance for Bobby? It was a thing of pure beauty.

You can't realistically compare them. Far to different to one another. In Chelsea's team, you'd compare Eriksen to Oscar (in my opinion). And I think (know) Eriksen wins that hands down.

It could, but what would be the point? Eriksen last season was better than Lamela this season. So, the point still stands.

Eriksen was only marginally better before Christmas last year than Lamela has been before Christmas this year. Let's face it, Eriksen really came to life in the New Year. Who's to say Lamela won't do the same?!
