not being funny but has any of the news of what we might do this summer made any sense too you. the only player I think I might of seen in the 4 or 5 I've visited is Martial
Martial being priority numero uno doesn't even make sense to me. To me we should be going all in for a top level CM, the best one we can get, then another striker (Plea is fine with me) and finally a Toby replacement should he be sold. I think our AM depth is fine as is and not a spot where it is necessary to spend 50mil. Fullbacks are fine as long as we get healthy, DM is fine, I would buy a HG goalie and get rid of one of ours... Or buy Tom Heaton to be the backup and another HG goalie to be third and free up 2 spots but realize thats unrealistic. Other than that I think this squad is really damn good, we just need to improve at CM specifically in the passing department.

Really? Lucas is quite a good shifty playmaker and we saw it in most of his cameos. Especially a few outside of the boot throughballs. :hungry:
Exactly what I was saying about people not rating him as highly cause he's bald.

The supposed Kicker story originated yesterday. Goat didn’t bleat until today.
It was a joke. ITKs use The Goat when they really want to obscure their sources.

Who ever leaked the Pulisic story to the press did the same - by using an imaginary Kicker story.

I just think people don’t really know what type of player Lucas is. I think they know he’s very fast so they automatically type cast him. He is very quick but he’s not really an off the shoulder runner.

He’s much more of a playmaker than a scorer and I’m not sure if people have watched him enough so far to know that. Plus while I say playmaker he still plays more like a number 10 rather than a winger.

I disagree that DM is fine. If this World Cup has shown us anything it is that Dier is not a midfielder. Dembele is pretty much gone and Wanyama missed most of last season and wasn’t too impressive when he came back. We don’t need a replacement for Toby anywhere near as much when we have Vertonghen, Dier, Sanchez and Foyth.

I can agree with that, I think he's gonna prove to be a fantastic acquisition for the upcoming season and be a player thats going to be really tough to leave out of our starting 11.

Ah didn't realize it was a joke.

I don't know why anyone at Spurs would leak that story if they were really interested in him. Doesn't do us any good for that to get out.

I'm not gonna lie, part of the draw of Pulisic signing with Spurs is the inevitable whining from the American Liverpool supporters. It would be glorious.

I hear you, and what you’re saying makes some sense, but I think the fact that we are consistently not being linked seriously with these players means Poch and Levy really disagree. Neither one are stupid, so that tells me the club believes one of two things:

1. Eriksen is our “top midfield signing”, and dropping him back will open up space for another forward option; or
2. Harry Winks is nailed on in Dembele’s spot, confidently enough that any midfield signing will basically be “Winks backup”, and he will be our usual starter there next to a holding midfielder.

I think either of these sound like serious possibilities, and as we start getting into preseason we will get a real feel for which one is true (or potentially we go with a 3 man midfield and then both could be true!)

I've got a couple points on this:

  • We've clearly enquired/flirted with the idea of Ndombele at 45mil.
  • I think Eriksen can certainly do that job but in a 3 behind Kane I would still prefer him closer to the goal.
  • I can't possibly imagine that they think Winks is ready to start most games in a full premier league/champions league season. The guy has fallen apart each of the past 2 seasons. Also, while he's shown some great stuff I still personally don't think he's ready for that load from what I've seen. Yes he's looked fantastic against Madrid, but he's also shown other games where he doesn't look up to the task. I still prefer him as the top backup for that spot.

[*] perhaps, but we make a lot of inquiries about a lot of players. My personal take is we think he’d be an interesting rotation option at 25-30m, not that he’d be a nailed-on starter at 35-50m, and want to test how much Aulas wants cash. Again, I guess we’ll see as the window unfolds.
[*] I agree, but it’s not a ridiculous opinion if Poch thinks otherwise.
[*] Fitness is probably our biggest concern with Winks, and I bet at the least we bring in a reasonable rotation option (or maybe this is Grealish/Eriksen...) but I genuinely wont be surprised if Poch views him as one of the top names on the team sheet when everyone is healthy. Poch picked him out as a special talent very early and has already trusted him in some of our biggest matches so far. TBF if he played for Dortmund or Everton or Valencia and had some of the performances he’s had for us so far, we’d be linked with him for 40-60m and probably be excited.

If we sign another pacey player, I think Poch needs to change tactics: both to sit back further our end and allow opposition more possession so we can utilise counter attacks more, and try and feed off more space in their half

90% of teams won't do that no matter how much you encourage them.

Having good pace will help us convert those few breaks we do get though.

Genuinely don’t understand the reluctance about this kid. His first touch, close control at pace and ability to ride a challenge and take the ball in tight areas is exceptional. He’s raw but if we can get him there is only upside.

Not being funny, but your comments on Winks might be correct, but please tell me 1 person that plays professional football that doesn’t have 3 or 4 off days in a full season

Doubt he was even part of the 1st team when klopp was there,
And if he was there for klopps last season, dortmund almost got relagated, so I doubt pulisic will be running back to klopp

Pulisic joined in Feb 2015. Klopp left in October 2015. Pulisic made his first team debut in Jan 2016 I believe.
