According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Tottenham had a bid accepted for the Dutchman earlier this week. However, Premier League champions Manchester City have outbid them.

Looking at it from a completely objective and unbiased viewpoint I’m sure he’ll sign for the team I like because otherwise I’ll have a strop.

I think I’ve just killed half the threads that will appear on here this summer.

Guys have faith, Ajax players have their heads screwed on, he will get a dam sight more game time with us which is more important for him as his age. We also have a very good relationship with Ajax, who as a club really do care about their ex players and their development. He has a shout in this I feel.

Here's hoping he's bright enough to recognise that City is a graveyard for young prospects.

Another classic buy what your rivals want to scupper them. At least Chelsea let up a bit in doing that.

Does Pep fancy Stones? A lot could depend on that. I'm not sure he does in all honesty.

Tbf, this is the sort of players they should throw their money at now. They could have a world class CB for 15 years.

If we've had an offer accepted, I'd have thought we could go on and at least match City (though of course City could up there's again). That would leave it to see what sort of life de Ligt wants - football or money.

Wish they'd just buy an amazing in their prime 25 year old one instead of the only chance we have at those types- while they're young. Now they want to take ALL the best young guys as well as in prime ones. Hate the fake money clubs, takes the fun away.

If we had our bid accepted surely it means we can but the player for that money, being outbid means if he accepts city then they pay more than us
