Looks like the deal will be in the region of £7mill for Alves, and that is more of a right price tag, after his goalscoring shows in the Dutch league. He is not worth £14mill.

I have never been a fan of buying a player that has scored many goals for his previous Club. For me that does not mean anything. What matters for me, is that he has the right attributes for the team. If he has the potential and the attributes the team needs, I do not care if he has 20 or 2 goals for his previous Club. Many examples on this. James Beattie, Kevin Davies, Ricketts at Bolton, etc...

Alves is a Scoutingmanagement recommended player, but not at this stage. He was recommended from his time when he was playing in Sweden, and now he has a name in the market, and is not recommended based on his price tag. This is due to what you can find in the market at the same price. In Sweden he was recommended as a low price choice, and he really was a bargain at that time.

As we have written from the start, at Scoutingmanagement:

"To be able to succeed in footballscouting, we believe that you have to watch the player's abilty at a young age to be able to save transfer money. We also believe that a player that is scouted, have to be watched based on attributes rather than goal or assist ratio's. The potential is always the most important. A good scoring record does not mean that he would have the same record in another Club. We always rate players from ability and potential based on different attributes, NOT statistics.

We have suggested players like Didier Drogba, Mahmadou Diarra, Michael Essien, Florent Malouda etc. at an early stage in their careers, so we have set the standard high."
