In all the seasons Ive watched the champions league I think City over the last two seasons have been the worst English team I have seen, they get outplayed in every game. I know people can argue that they have had tough groups both seasons but with the squad they have=NO EXCUSE.

I know this may sound silly because City won the league but I really dont think Mancini is all that, they get away with so many shit performances because they have some really top class individuals but they are not a great team like previous Premier League champions so that can only be down to a manager that has so many world class players at his disposal.

I thought it was quite funny that Gary Neville - who I normally agree with - was actually making excuses for them and saying that teams sometimes "need a couple of seasons to bed into the champions league". Errr...we did alright, getting to the quarter finals despite only coming fourth in our domestic league.

I'm actually surprised that City don't get more of a savaging from the media - as you say they've had tough draws but they're Premier League Champions, the supposed 'best league in the world'. Why can't they compete at the top level?

Apparently Isco had a really good game for Malaga. For those who've seen him would the following front 6 have enough goals or would we need to replace Lennon?

Not enough goals in that front six.

He always does. So far this season I'm yet to see him be anything other than outstanding.

The front six you cite would get by pretty well goal wise I reckon. I think Bale and Lennon will score more within AVB's system and Isco has the potential to become a regular double figures man. He might not be there just yet, but he's looking more threatening in attacking positions by the game. He's still only 20 and five goals isn't bad for a first full season at the top level Those figures will only improve from here.

As long as you have the likes of Dempsey, Sig and Defoe to mix things up off the bench I wouldn't be too worried about the scoring potential within that team.

Kompany has gone backwards since last season big time.

Honest assessment from Mancini.

I don't think Kompany has gone backwards, I think Mancini has ditched his defensive rigidity (remember how he used to play 4231 with Yaya and DeJong or Barry as the two) and is trying to play more attack biased team/tactics and is struggling to pull it off unscathed. All of a sudden the defenders are getting less protection. Makes them look worse. His midfield was a little bit chocolate teapot tonight and they got cut to pieces by an excellent Dortmund side.

Agree I said in the window I would have Isco over Carzola and got rated dumb and to be honest I think that ship has sailed now:cry:

Lennon certainly needs competition, especially now we are playing in european comps consistantly.

2 players + competition for Ade could really make us a proper title challenger.

This would be my dream.

Sandro-Moutinho
Dembele
Iso-Adebayor-Bale

That is perfect for me.

Stuttgart were beaten by some mold today
Another reason why Ole Gunnar Solskjær is named a candidate for pretty much every decent managerial vacancy that comes up (and Blackburn). Terrific display by his team. Molde have an incredible ability to perform in the big games, they were a penalty miss away from beating Basel over two legs in CL qualifying, dropped down to the EL and then thumped Heerenveen to get into the group. No Norwegian side has performed like that in Europe since Rosenborg were good, which is at least five years ago.
