Why are people saying Llorente isn't coming?

Even though I don't reckon Llorente is coming (by god I'd love it if her did though!) last time I checked Llorente is a 6 foot centre forward and Dempsey is a wide attacking midfielder.

Same with comparisons to VDV, totally different players.

Willian would be a replacement if anything as they playing in the same kind of area, Moutinho if he comes would be a replacement for Modric as again he's more of a deep-lying centre midfielder.

If anything Dempsey seems to me like a Lennon replacement.

I'm a big fan of Lennon but Dempsey does provide goals from that side and maybe it will give Lennon the kick up the arse to perform as he consistently can. Or AVB really does want him out.

Dempsey can play left, Right and centre forward and also deeper in midfield. He is a good signing if we had signed Moutinho as well.

Don't understand the negativity towards this. I think it's just people venting frustrations as they were desperate for Moutinho instead. I think this one seals any talk of Moutinho coming though (albeit not same position but it means Dembele and Siggy will drop back).

Most people would have bitten Fulham's hand off if offered Dempsey at the beginning of the window, and 6 mil is good for a provem Prem goalscorer who can cover a variety of positions even if he's nearly 30. Plus it's fun just to get one up on Liverpool.

You lot understand a player like Dempsey is needed right?
He will slot straight into our front right position and providing us with goals Lennon never will. In our team we need all our front 3 players to score a good amount of goals, and the fact he can also play as a CF make a player like Dempsey fill two needs.

As a Yank I'm probably biased, but I also don't get the negativity about Dempsey. He scored 23 goals from midfield last year! He's also hard as nails which the squad could use as the squad often lacks a little fire. Also, I disagree he doesn't have resale value--Dempsey is the USA's biggest star and MLS will pay up for him in a couple of years. If we can get 4 million for Robbie Keane, we can get most of the 6 million we paid for Dempsey back from MLS. Would really have loved Moutinho but Dempsey gives us quality and depth and a bit of fire. A very nice piece of business. Fucking Charlie Adam went for 4 million and we got a player 10X as good for 6 and we screwed over Liverpool in the process...again! Rejoice!

Like others have mentioned he will always make that run to the backpost when Bale crosses the ball. It always bothers me when Bale crosses it and then Lennon is nowhere to be found.

Not the big signing we all hoped for,but a very shrewd signing. I think Dempsey could be a revelation at Spurs. He we give us goals as well as assists. As others have said dont underestimate the exposure effect in the States!
